God i hate stupid CS people.

So i bought these two web cams to install for a client, They don't work with the client software, the software of the client can work directly with web cams to put small photos in the database but it has to retrieve the pics as .bmp and not .jpg, unfortunately the stupid ass cheap web cams i bought only seems to want to do .jpg unless i use THEIR software then save it as .bmp and then retrieve it from the clients software.

well that just won't do, so i went to return it and those fvcking assh0les want to charge me 15%.

OMFG i was SOOO fvcking PO'd.

I WILL NEVER EVER fvcking shop there again. and to be honest, that's not a small deal, i bought over $35k hardware for clients and i should double that this year.

NO FVCKING way.

oh btw, i don't want to hear about all the great deals i'm missing out on at Newegg.com, i prefer going retail because it is "USUALLY" easier to return or exchange.

Best Buy or Staples for me from now on.

Ask to talk to a manager. The lackey working the return desk probably is going to quit in two weeks and could give two sh!ts.

Tell them how much business you do with them (commercial account?) and that you'd like a bit of compassion in the deal.

You think Best (Worst?) Buy is going to be better? I would find a good local computer shop. You might pay a little more, but if you are doing the kind of volume you say you are, then talk to the owner and get a nice discount, especially if you pay cash.

Staples > Best Buy. I've never been to a Comp USA (none around here) but I'd imagine your experience at BB would be slightly worse. I say that only because I really can't imagine a world where there are people more clueless than most Best Buy employees.

What's funny is that you should KNOW there is a restocking fee. It's not like it was a surprise.

ya, actually a friend of mine owns a local shop. i'm going to be doing a lot of business thru him. he didn't have any web cams in stock tho.

best buy did an exchange and then a return for me today on web cams WITHOUT a stocking fee. that's good enough for me.

i go to this particular store frequently, they have waived it for me in the past. today it was a manager i wasn't used to seeing, she said "no exceptions" wrote a figure on the receipt of 15% below original cost and left the store and allowed the girl working there to do the dirty work.

anyway, enough is enough, i have more than enough other places i can go to get my hardware, i'm not going back to CRAPUSA.

Not here. They only do that with desktops and laptops, and DCs IIRC.

yup, and CRAPUSA used to be like that too.

When? I have always seen the restocking fee at CrapUSA on everything since I have been going there (going on 8ish years now).

I hate to say it, but it really pays to research things before making a purchase. I hate restocking/return fees, too. :(

That's correct. Best Buy's restocking fees are limited to certain items.

you shouldn't have to do research because ultimately all research ends up as, someone has tried it and it worked or didn't work.

that's bs. the package CLAIMED that it worked with .bmp. unfortunately what the package DIDN'T say was that .jpg was the default and .bmp only worked with their software.

Restocking fees are such a crock. Yeah there are people who will abuse return policies but most people will buy something and find it doesn't work or wasn't what they expected. If you buy a $350 item that's over a $50 restocking fee. Why should I patronize them if they are going to pull this crap? I can get it cheaper and with better return policies over the internet.
These brick and mortars complain about losing business to the internet. So what do they do? They make policies guaranteed to drive away customers

IMO, the only computer store worse than CompUSA is Best Buy. Still, it is CompUSA's policy to waive the 15% restocking fee in the event the productive was defective or didn't work according to the customer's needs. The only reason they have the fee is to prevent people from buying a vid card just for that special LAN and then returning it on Monday (and such similar things)...
Poor customer service from poorly trained employees (even managers) who couldn't give a sh!t is becoming an epidemic problem for businesses. Unfortunately, many idiot customers keep shopping at places that consistently treat them poorly and bottom-line-fixated upper management is blind to the problem.

that's my point. i've been going there for about 2 yrs now. i've successfully returned MANY things without a restocking fee. it pisses me off that they have employees there that don't recognize or care about good customers.

i'll not go there and all you morons that keep talking to me about reading the fvcking policy READ THE FVCKING THREAD. i've already stated that they have allowed me returns IN THE PAST without a restocking fee. mb they had a bad manager on duty tonight, that's REALLY NOT MY PROBLEM. i'll just take my business elsewhere.

maybe you just returned too much crap and they had a secret meeting and said 'next time that guy comes in here let's hit him with the 15% we're entitled to!!! BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!'

hey it could've happened.

anyway, just because you were allowed to return things before, it doesn't mean they're not entitled to enforce their policy which is right on every receipt and shown in every store.

think you're so special? if you start boycotting stores because of every little thing they do to piss you off, you'll have no place left to shop because ALL the B&Ms are run by idiots.

Weird that they'd extend this restocking fee to stuff like webcams.

I can fully understand a restocking fee on video cameras, 35 mm cameras and digital cameras. The reason being you get a huge amount of customers coming in and buying the camera on their credit card to use for a week or two to capture some special event. Then they return the camera for 100% money back, and the store is forced to take a hit of usually a hundred bucks or so an item because nobody'll buy at full price.

Lastly, it really is your fault for not reading their return policies before leaving. Nothing moronic on their end of things. :p
