Crap. Costco raising membership prices again.

Starting in June, basic membership is increasing $5 from $55 to $60. Executive membership increasing from $10 from $110 to $120. They're raising the annual cashback for Executive members from maximum of $750 to $1,000 but that's no benefit to me. $120 a year to shop is kind of steep for membership fee. I can see lot of people downgrading to the basic membership.

It was bound to happen but still worth the price of membership IMHO.

We might have a few $,$$$ purchases in the near future, might upgrade to executive level membership. Yes I know they'll refund the difference, don't care.

It's $10 and if you're getting $400 in cash back then enjoy spending more overall at Sam's. I'd rather shop at Costco where the employee's are treated better and they treat their customers better.

Well, I actually got back over $1,000 since I got back another $660 from Citi Costco. The previous year I got back over $1,100 from Amex Costco and I think over $600 from Executive membership. I spend decent amount every year at Costco so the Executive membership pays for itself. But I could do the same at Sam's. Like I said, it might seem silly to argue over $10 but everyone has a breaking point.

Speaking of your personal breaking point. Assuming you're a Netflix and/or Amazon Prime member what's your threshold for those, if they raised their prices by 10% each? Hmmn actually 10% sounds like a lot.

I was Netflix subscriber since the early days. I canceled Netflix back I think in 2014 when they announced they were raising the price from $8 a month to $9 a month. I quit and canceled the very next day even though I was grandfathered in for another year or two. Yes, I canceled over $1 a month increase that hadn't even kicked in. Again, it was more about perception of value. I don't miss Netflix one bit.

I canceled Amazon Prime too when they increased price. Amazon is convenient but not at the price they're asking for Prime. But my sister wanted Prime after I canceled. So she signed up and I just piggyback hers on old grandfather family account. So I use it for free shipping but don't pay for Prime. I would never pay for Amazon Prime. I would simply do without if I had to pay.

That's good idea. I could easily do Costco cash cards since everyone I know has Costco membership. So basic membership is out of the question. It's either cash card and pay $0 on the membership or pay $120 for Executive membership. That cash card route is pretty appealing. It would be just like how I'm piggybacking off on the Amazon Prime membership.

I was Sam's Club member before I was Costco member and had both membership for several years in the past. Sam's Club is way closer to where I live than Costco. I can easily make the switch. I could also completely cut out Costco and Sam's and still be fine.

Sunday freebees are no go for me. I can't get close with all the Indian families hogging the sample areas. They park their carts right in the middle of the aisle and feed their whole families.

My Costco account was started overseas. We have a business account, and it allows us to add employees for an additional US$6 each. So, every year we ask who wants in, and we split the total cost of the renewal. We get no Executive cash-back, but it keeps our friends and employees happy.

I live alone for most of the year in the US, but I go to Costco about once a week for three to five items.

Due to my guerrilla-style of shopping (get in fast and get out), the food give-aways and people parking their carts in the middle of the aisles makes me crazy as well. I look forward to Halloween nights where I strip naked and run up and down the aisles... no one minds because they're not there, or they're doing the same thing. Also, the stores actually open 15mins before the stated opening time, so I show up early on the weekends and I'm out before they actually open.

Same with gas... it opens hours before the store actually opens, and there's no line between 5:30am and 8:30am.

I love Costco.
