I agreed to sell an item for $50 (down from the original $60 I asked for). So, he comes over and says he only has $40 and if I could cut him a deal. I told him to fuck off and I left.

This kind of crap happens way too much. Most of the time, I can't even get a meet with a person because they'll back out of the deal at the last second. I don't even bother with craigslist anymore.

After getting flaked a few times I just put in my ads " Will meet locally" . Then I give them the adress of the 7-11 a few blocks form my house and tell em I live across the street, call me when they get there.

Its worked out very well. You just have to realize that when the ads are free and you dont have to register or anything to reply to an ad youre going to get flaked.

It actually used to be a lot worse when you had to run ads in the paper. You had to pay to run an ad and get flaked.

They wouldn't do it if it didn't work for people.

I personally would have turned him away too. But usually once I get a price set, the person does show up with the amount requested. Guess I've just been pretty lucky.

This has happened to me before as well. I sold a lawn tractor on there for $150. Guy stopped by and offered $100, when I told him no he got pissed and said I drove all the way here. I said so what, the ad clearly said $150 didn't it? After some whining and bitching, he relented, paid the $150 and left with it. Funny that not 15 minutes before, he ONLY had $100 with him and couldn't afford any more.
