Sold a wireless keyboard and mouse to this guy on craigslist, even threw it a free flash drive. He calls me a few hours after the sale saying it doesn't work, when i ask him specifically what doesn't work (it was tested thoroughly before the sale), he tells me every time i connect the receiver to my usb port, windows returns a memory dump and crashes the os.

First he is trying to blame me for crashing his computer, then when he calls back the 2nd time, he tries to blame the receiver as being infected with a virus or something.

The guy turns out is running Windows ME. I politely told him, i'll reformat your pc and make it work at my rate of $75 per hour for consulting fees or you can try to get it work for yourself.

The 3rd time he calls back, he tells me he has some anger issues and smashed the keyboard with a hammer or something and wants his money back. After that, his number has been blocked on my phone.

😛 sorry you had that happen, but amusing story.

I'd hope he was lying about ME, sounds he's trying to scam to me.

Too many retards use Craigslist so I don't bother with it. Everyone I know that uses it say they usually deal with ghetto people and meth heads that lack comprehension or any sense of normality.

not hard up for money, getting ready to move this summer, selling a lot of stuff. i had really good luck up to this point.

Yep. I have had cell phone thrown at me.

My favorite was some guy had busted the antenna off his phone and wanted me to replace it for free. Nope. You have to! Nope. If you don't, I will beat your ass. Nope.

The guy leans back and from experience I know what's going to happen. A Sony Ericsson flip phone comes screaming past my head and hits the wall, smashing into tiny pieces. I'm happy because now I don't have to do shit. My installer didn't miss a beat. He grabs a push broom, sweeps up the bits into a neat little pile and innocently asks the customer "would you like your pieces back?"

I fucking lost it and had to go into the back room.

PS: this is why I don't give my phone # to Craigslist buyers/sellers. The benefit of CL is when you realize you're dealing with a twat, you just tell them to fuck off and you stop answering their emails. This is more difficult if you gave them your phone #.
 
Use email and don't sell stuff like keyboards or small things. It's not worth it since you have no idea what system they have or how much / how little they know.

I would disagree. The buyer's system and potential incompatibilities are not the seller's problem. Presumably, the ad said what make/model the keyboard was, so it's on him to research it and make sure it works.

Personally if it were me, I'd have a field day with this clown. Of course, he wouldn't have my phone number, so my options wouldn't be limited at all :biggrin:
 
They should sell Windows ME next to 5-Hour Energy for when you need that 5 hours filled with rage. I wonder if they have a bunch of old licenses they can do this with various old OSes and market them by rage level based on release date.
