CPU Fan error!

The point is I don't get anything here...shit! The only thing I can find here is a fresh CPU set with the cooling heatsing and fan setup.

Ok, I saw the 4-pin connector. I called up some stores today from office and found out that 4-pin connector fans are sadly NOT available. Next what I did was called up ASUS directly and they told me that updating the BIOS would get rid of the error. They also told me to get some thermal paste and apply it on the CPU if need be?

What I'll do is, run my system tomorrow and check my fan speed and temps on it and post here. I think after playing Crysis yesterday day my CPU read around 35 degrees C. Is it okay?? Should I run my system even if the fan error comes up?

35C is acceptable, you may not have any problems as is, only time will tell, for me when errors show up either in bios, OS or programs i fix em.

Looks like it. This is more of a nagging problem, it's irritating to switch the PC on and get an error. I too would like to get it solved. I'll post back the temps and fan speed after running the system tomorrow. I wish I could buy from Newegg but it does not ship to India. I don't know any place to buy from online (Ebay India does not have CPU cooling fans, I checked already). The last thing I want to do is it buy a new CPU with the fan included. Hardware is expensive here, a GeForce 9500GT (512MB) card had me shell out $105 last week!

Hi. I fixed the CPU fan error problem. I think the problem was either not enough thermal compound being on the plate, or just the cpu fan malfunctioning. The problem went away after i replaced the stock fan with a different fan, and applied more thermal compound.

However, now I am getting a problem with the PC itself. The machine just shuts off and reboots by itself when I am trying to watch a soccer game online or just playing a full-screen computer game.

Any suggestions?

Sam25: 3 or 4 pin doesn't impact it that much, adjusting the speeds is about the only difference, if you don't have any actual performance problems it's nothing to get seriously worried about.

serenadeesx: Could you post your motherboard, PSU, and video card (and what driver set you're on)?

Yes, I called up ASUS (the Indian tech support) again and they told me that 3 or 4 pin thing will not matter, so far the temps are fine and performance is not getting hindered the computer is safe to run. They even told me that I could get rid of that 'CPU Fan Error' through the BIOS. I watched a movie that day on my pc and ran the pc for about 3 hours or so, but the temps were fine. Even playing Crysis does not raise the temps that high (I played at medium settings owing to my video card's capability, but nevertheless). So, I would presume it's nothingmuch to worry about for now.

The PSU could be the problem if the PC is suddenly shutting down while gaming. Since you don't get that CPU Fan Error anymore, I'm guessing it's not a overheating problem which is causing the PC to restart. You could check on your temps once with Everest or SpeedFan just to be sure.

Krnmastersgt: My mobo is Asus P5QL-PRO. My PSU is Antec Neopower 550w, and my video card is Asus 7200 GS. The driver set, I believe, is the Nvidia GeForce?

I will try a new power supply this weekend and tell you how it went.

Yeah, the problem was annyoing. Boot up your PC and there you are....the error pops up everytime, shit! Thanks to all the people who've helped me here and also ASUS tech support. I'm still searching for a good CPU Fan, once I get one where I stay I'll change the current one.

Hope a new PSU solves your computer restarting problems.
