Not exactly the same but I paid $100 for one of these for bike riding which I also use as a handheld. 250 lumens that I can mount to my helmet or stick in my jacket pocket. Lights up the street, I can charge via USB and weighs only 190g.

Based on the application, particular types of lights and batteries will be better than others. If I get back into night mtbing, I may splurge for a 750 lumen setup.

I think the OP is just surprised to learn that there are actually people out there who are geeks for flashlights. I don't get it either, but thanks to the internet, we're now exposed to all manner of perversion, some as bad as flashlight junkies.

Spent 150 on mine, plus another 90 for my "backup" light. Of course, my life may depend on it too.

Pretty much. I'm surprised at the money people will spend on such things, but then I think of the money I've spent on guitars, computer hardware, etc which is just as stupid to somebody else.

yeah, its hard as someone who spent 700 dollars on GPUs inside of 21 days to wonder why someone would spend 200 on a flashlight...

My life could as well. Although not due to my job most likely.

None the less, a bright light that can be seen and blind from a decent distance can be very useful. Especially in night conditions.

Snob might not be the best word for it, but yes there are people here who buy expensive tools for various reasons.

Go read Surefires testimonials section for examples of how a flashlight can save your life.

Isn't that how much fleshlights normally cost, for the base model at least.

You must give them to your bf's after a month and "finally give it up" so you don't have to be bothered with having sex with them :p

man some people just have too much money
In AT Garage people laugh if you have less than the V8 model, in CPU people laugh if you have less than the i7, in ATOT people laugh if you don't make 6 figures. Then in P&N people bitch about how they can't afford houses due to high taxes or that "we need 2 incomes to get by!" and it's the same people who wasted money on crap they don't need.

That said, some people really do need a $200 light.

Yeah I am always hearing about the economic downturn yet I see people driving $50,000 luxury SUVs by themselves and buying $5 Starbucks fancy-shmancy mochas every day. And then you have people spending $200 on a flashlight, $150/mo on cable TV that they never watch, several thousand on an entertainment center, and insist on having a gargantuan starter castle house. It's so fucking stupid.
