In AT Garage people laugh if you have less than the V8 model, in CPU people laugh if you have less than the i7, in ATOT people laugh if you don't make 6 figures. Then in P&N people bitch about how they can't afford houses due to high taxes or that "we need 2 incomes to get by!" and it's the same people who wasted money on crap they don't need.
That said, some people really do need a $200 light.
Serious or not serious?People laugh at me because I ride a 650cc motorcycle.

I keep a $200 torch in my backpack. Have one on my 870HD as well.
You pay for things like tint and color rendition, quality heatsinking, designs that survive torture testing, well thought out firmware for torches with a uC, etc.. Sometimes the more expensive ones will be brighter, but that's not assured. Also, there is the cost from having development and manufacturing done here in the US.I just buy those bright cheap LED flashlights off of dealextreme. They may not be as bright as the $100+ lights, but they're more than enough for me.
Actually it was 160 + tax.
$200 is too much for me but that's just because I'm always broke. I use a $70 3 CR123A 200 lumen tactical on on the side of my airsoft AR and I love the thing. When I finally build my actual AR it will go into that but for now it's hooked to a pressure sensitive pad on the side of my front grip. The thing is awesome in the woods at night and for blinding those shooting at you.

In between, it's hard to beat Mags and Quarks.
