It's a "tactical flashlight". Small flashlight too. Bright enough to blind you or burn your retina if you look at it for more than a split second. Seems to be made of gun metal or something. WTF 200 bucks for a flashlight!? He's a young guy from a wealthy family so he doesn't even really need to work I don't think. Still I just don't get why a flashlight.

I'm not hating on him because of the money, I spent about 2,500 on my computer and I make very very little and can't justify the computer. I just don't get spending it on a flashlight. :p

Edit: It's a surefire

I have a friend who's a flashlight junkie...big ones, little ones, fancy ones, plain but functional ones...doesn't matter. from tiny things that run on button cells to 10 million candlepower torches...he's got them.

Some people need something to be interested in that nobody else is. Makes them feel special. I guess flashlights are one of the few things left.

I had a $200 one that my gf lost (lost her purse and I had her put it in there for some reason, I forget now).

Now I have $250 in 2 of them. An E2DL and a E1B Backup from Surefire. They are amazingly helpful to have one with you along with a pocket knife.

i always keep a flashlight available (granted, the htc desire i have can just about blind someone, so they dont get used as much as they once did). but i dont need one where i can justify moneys on them. i have an old maglite 2xAA that i put an led in years ago that is ok, and a 1xAAA fenix e01 that is remarkably bright for such a little bastard.

the maglite might have cost me 20, the fenix was 15 or so from amazon.
/also always has a pocket knife
//and a leatherman

I have 4 surefire tactical lights - one is mounted on the front of my AR-15, another one is going on my Mossberg 590, one went to my daughter, and one is going to my wife.

If the guy wants to buy a $200 flashlight, so what. Its called "quality".

$200 is a bit for the average person,maybe could justify that if I were a cop or fire / rescue type but not just to have one ?

I had a hard time coughing up $90 for my fenix TA30 but they are nice to have when ya need a solid / performer flashlight.

high end stuff aren't cheap. just like someone would pay $50,000+ for a stereo amplifier, where you can get a cheap one for under $500.

My little buddy is a Fenix LD10. It was ~$60 when I bought it a few years back. $200 isn't unheard of, but way outta most people's price range.

That's one marvelous piece of engineering there. Rolex vs. Timex is a good analogy. A Rolex does appreciate though. Don't think flashlights do except perhaps in the hands of a collector that wants something out of production.

People spend over $700 for a graphics card that's worth a fraction of that in a few years.
