If you think fewer voters in rural counties/redder states actually matters to Republican electoral prospects—then you haven’t been paying attention.
 
So my antivax sister was bitching about having to quarantine for 20 days because her son that lives with her and her daughter who visits daily had covid. She was complaining how she and her daughter weren't going to have x-mas money because of the work they missed. Had they been vaxxed with no symptoms they wouldn't need to quarantine according to the CDC. Sometimes actions based on lies have consequences.

They do have an options and it's to ignore the quarantine which is what many people are doing this days.

I highly encourage all current and future Republican voters to skip the vaccines and stand for freedom. I'd also support them not wearing seatbelts to protect their own personal liberties. Etc, etc.

I support repubs not wearing seat belts, or motorcycle helmets. Until we have this pandemic under control, I don't support them incidentally killing others because they're afraid of a vaccine.

All the experts agree, this isn't something tjats "going away", much like the flu. We as a society will build up various levels of immunity, but probably require annual shots (unlikely to be a different version unlike the flu shot due to slower rates of mutation) but it will be something that's just in the background.

We're not going to turn into walking dead but there will be flare-ups, especially in unprotected or otherwise vulnerable populations or groups.

We missed our chance at containment, that ship sailed a while ago. Will we get a more virulent strain? Hard to see how it can much worse than delta, which isn't as bad as measles or chicken pox but it's up there. Will it become more deadly? Possible, SARS and MERS were way, way worse (MERS has a case fatality rate of something like 30%, maybe higher).

If we get a strain that spreads like delta but kills like MERS, the population decimation will make the bubonic plague in the 1600s look pedestrian.

Get your fucking shots and mask up. Damn.

I'm not so sure about that - I think if COVID were deadlier it would both scare more people into compliance and it would burn out much faster.
