Hi, guys.

I'm wondering whether any of you can give me your recommendation on these questions.
I'm going to build a rig either with air or water. Please note that I'm a totally noob for water cooling.
My other components are followings:
1. Asus p5K deluxe.
2. Lian li PC-6070Bplus II Black/ Antec P182B/ Antec 900.
3. BFG 7950 GT
4. Samsung 226BW.
5. Corsair HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520W Power Supply
6. CRUCIAL BALLISTIX Tracer 2GB KIT

I don't plan to build a SLI system.
The first one is for cpu. I'm debating myself between E6600 vs. Q6600. I have read many overclocking results. It seems like Q6600 would generate a lot of heat, and it would be a difficult job to hit 3.2Ghz mark with air cooling. With water cooling, it would be a daunting task for me to correctly setup everything, but hopefully it can give me better result. ;) Also, a proper water cooling would cost me around $300.
Again, if I go with E6600 and air, I can go with the tuniq tower and hopefully I can hit 3.4~3.6Ghz (my E6400 hit 3.4Ghz 24 hours orthos stable, which I gave to my academic advisor :p).
To make a long stroy short, is there any starter kit for water cooling? I saw from extremesystem.org that EVA2000 could hit 3.6Ghz with corsair nortilus or something. Do you think it could be a decent (I know some of you might argue about this) starter kit for water cooling? I would be really happy if I can hit 3.2Ghz with Q6600. Otherwise, I would be better off by choosing E6600.
Please give me your suggestions so that I can make a good decision here.
Second question is that NB cooling is always required? If I go with air, any recommendation for NB cooling?
Third and the final question is which case I should choose. I have built 5 or 6 machines with Antec, and I still own some of them for my program test. As such, I would like to go with Lian Li this time but I'm not sure whether it has clearance for Tuniq tower. If I choose water cooling, which one would you recommend?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JJET

Nice collection of components!

Personally, I would stick with Antec! The Antec P182SE is simply excellent! I wouldn't even mind owning one... :D

As far as water cooling goes, I'll let the resident Water King (aigomorla) answer your questions. His opinion is gold...

ahahahha quadcore cooling questions.

Okey, im going to make this short and quick.

I am in close communications with the owner of jab-tech. I have worked out a kit with him that will help in coolign a quadcore. This kit will hopefully be available for sale at jab-tech b4 the 266 price drop.

This kit will have either a thermochill PA120.3 radiator, or a swiftech MCR320. Im trying to see if john can set it as a upgrade option, but he says the PA series radiators sells out faster then hot cakes.

This kit will be very nicely priced. Look at jab-tech's pricing on regular parts if you dont believe me. And the parts in that kit will be hand picked by me.

Who am i your goign to ask? im the watercooling guru of this forum, with my own sticky. Look at bottom.

So if you can wait a little bit on the cooling, i would recomend you picking up one of thse quadcore watercooling kits which should come out soon.

-PEACE

When it comes to anything Watercooling, aigomorla definitely knows what he is talking about. He has tried out more cooling systems on Quad-Cores than anyone else I have read about. I do not have a quad-core, so I am going to just shut up about any cooling recommendations for it, except to say that I have done a lot of business with Jab-tech and they are a quality e-tailer. Their shipping costs are some of the best I have EVER seen online and their pricing is always comparable to any of the other specialty stores. If Aigo says he has a quad-core cooling package coming out in conjunction with Jab-tech, I would definitely buy whatever they have come up with collectively and will likely buy one myself if/when I make the Quad Core jump.

I do have a P5K Deluxe motherboard and can tell you that the heatpipe system on the NB/SB/Mosfets is very effective at keeping things cool. If you decide on the Q6600, I do not think you will be pushing any FSB that the stock cooling system can not handle. Given of course you have semi-decent case airflow. If not, you can always mount a fan to blow across the stock Heatpipe cooler.

As for which case to use, I built my latest system using a Thermaltake Armor case. I have 2-120mm fans mounted in the front and 2-120mm fans mounted in the back. It has oodles of space inside to mount stuff, much more room than an Antec900. I have also built a number of systems using Lian-Li cases and can attest to their quality, but for the money spent, I think the TT Armor case is better.

I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful comments. :)
Yes. I read aigomorla's sticky guide, which is excellent. I will follow his suggestion as well as others and wait until Jab-tech comes with a new water cooling system. Unfortunately, I have a limited time constraint (i.e., within 2 months I should spend around $6000 for my computers). On the bright side, my school allows me to build computers for myself. :) So, it would be wise decision to buy E6600 with air cooling system now, and buy another one with quad core and water cooling in the middle of July. ;)
Thanks,
JJET

If I had funds available I'd build a quad now and a quad later! The components are available today just not as a "kit" You don't have to be a rockt scientist to do this, and fortunately for us we have 'that modest guy" to ask for recommendations to save us serfs some money.:D
I look forward to seeing "The Kit" Aigo, What will it be called? the "Morla Monster"??;)
