1) Never ever say "I feel a little over-dressed" to your interviewer
2) Atleast have a couple of questions ready to ask about the company or product or work enviornment.

We are interviewing for Java/Unix software engineer and this new college graduates absolutely suck at interviewing.

Why the crap would you say something like that?
if the interviewer is wearing shorts and a t-shirt and you decided to show up in a suit and tie.

I don't think I would like that job.

Well unless you're interviewing for a waiter position at a bar on the beach, I don't see that happening too often. ;)

The HR Admin at my company told me about a guy who was listening to a walkman during the interview.

She also told me about a guy who put his feet on the desk during the interview.

my brother went to an interview at a software company in a suit and his interviewer was wearing shorts and a hawaiin shirt. he didn't say anything about it, of course, because he's not stupid.

That's why they also suggest scouting out the place to find out what type of dress code they have. If they're casual, then coat and tie might be okay instead of a full suit.

I might have a skewed perspective. The last interview I had, I was placed in front of 4 police officers in full uniforms & gear. :D

Don't ask the hiring manager. Ask HR and HR only - that is their job to tell you that stuff. Asking a future boss or peer just makes you look like an ass.

Never ever ask that in the interview. If you are already asking about sick days chances are I won't consider you for the position. In last 3 years I have yet to take a sick day and I am sure there are others like me who don't believe in sick days.

Don't take a beer to the interview either. Some people frown upon that.

if it's a privately held company you should ask questions about their financial situation, regardless if it's internet or startup. they may not tell you much though.

yes its ok to ask. Lot of times the person interviewing you(depending on how hight he/she is in food chain) will tell you how the company is doing without you having to ask. When I interviewed for a small company they told me how good the company was doing and how they had zero debt :).

How about...
What time is lunch?
Do you have a naptime?
When can I expect to get paid?
Are there any hot chicks that work here?
Can I come in around 10am each day?
