Ok, lets walk through this slowly since you appear to be having some trouble. Under what policy was it OK for him to enter a private dwelling without permission from the owner occupant? Under what policy was it OK for him to walk in, and then go to the bedroom? Under what policy was it OK to lie about having gone into the dwelling to his supervisors? He was fired for 1) breaking policy, and 2) lying about it when asked about it. Don't know where you work, but for most people, breaking the rules and then lying about it when confronted is a good way to get canned.

If he was concerned about the safety of someone, he could have called the cops who would have proper authorization to go into the home if there was reason to believe there was someone in danger.

please watch the video and understand the context of this case before you make it black and white. the house appeared abandoned, and the lady completely ignored the guy banging on her door. it is any good samaritans duty to check on suspicious activity. how does he know some old lady isnt in the house laying on the ground near death?? remember, he was there BECAUSE the yard was not taken care of, despite written warnings from the county.

just. watch. the. video. it clearly shows this guy is normal and this lady is a crackwhore who thinks shes attractive or something. trust me lady, that guy has no interest in seeing you naked.

He lied.....fired.

She can't buy a mower but can afford home surveillance......

Home surveillance is cheaper than a mower (depending on the types you get). I get a two camera, color, RF system with LCD display, intercom system, with nightvision and it saves the recordings to a memory card for around $250. A basic system is far cheaper.

Would you lie if you knew you would be fired for lying if you were caught? The guy did not expect to be caught, so he lied.

he obviously didnt know there were cameras! so my first thought would be "well, i could tell the truth but people might not believe it". and i bet thats what this guy thought, because thats what makes sense! ITS ALL PROVEN BY THE VIDEO!!!!

wrongly fired for it. i hope he gets his job back, and this lady should thank him because if she WAS in trouble ALL of you would be praising him for saving a life.

seriously. you all want to hate me on this, but i am not wrong and you know you are. stop fighting a battle you started just because you thought i was being sensationalist. this whole news story is bullshit, thats why i posted it.

Doesn't matter. Nobody has the authority to enter another's home without permission (unless probable cause a crime being committed or screams for help which constitute permission). He was wrong, and lucky he didn't get shot because of it.

You're dead wrong on this one, it's HIGHLY illegal to enter somebody's home without permission. There are very few people that can do that, namely fire/rescue...cops need a specific observable reason to be able to.

He should be fired, what he did was VERY wrong.

Had he simply been truthful there may have been a different outcome.

People especially who employ you don't appreciate being lied to, I would have fired him simply for lying to me.

nope. you are wrong. if there appears danger, you can enter. the video alone clearly shows how this house was a shithole and nobody was answering despite LOUD banging. and the door was open!

if everyone is arguing with me about this guy lying to his employer, whatever. thats not why people are mad at me. nobody can admit that this guy did a GOOD thing. for the county, for the neighbors, for HER

That doesn't constitue danger.

How about you go randomly enter peoples houses?

Note - DO NOT DO THIS, it's highly illegal and could get you shot.

what's a 'shithole'? looks like a house in the surveillance video.

code enforcement is allowed to go to the back door and open it?

dude is lucky he wasn't shot

admit it, you're selling the house next door and called code enforcement :awe:

If the door is open there is danger? You mean that if you forget to close their door that means anyone is allowed to just walk in your house? What about an open window, does that mean there is danger also? What about if the door is closed but not locked? What if the yard is not mowed, does that mean there is danger?

Seriuosly?

seriously. he was there because the house had multiple violations. it smelled, was trashed, and nobody was answering. that is multiple points all hinting towards something wrong. use your brain.

that still DOES NOT GIVE him the right to enter. he was wrong then lied. he got fired for the lie.

justified firing.

if he was wrong he would have been fired and charged with a crime. he was not, and he is appealing the firing which i bet he wins.

if this guy gets his job back, i win this thread:p
