I hate the government as much as the next red blooded American, but seriously, if you want to sell something at a public event, you should get a permit if required by law. If youre selling out of your driveway, tell the govt to GTFO.

No, I was making a point that there is a reason for the law and if you let one incident like this slide then at the next event there will be 10, 20, 30 or more such vendors.

If I were the state inspector, I think I would have just shut the little girl down and not fined her though. Maybe that wasn't possible for some reason?
 
Not to derail this thread. But this is something I've been wondering about since the phenomena began oh, probably for the last 15 years and increases more all the time.

Do the people who actually rent a store in a mall, have to build permanent counters and shelves resent those people who have kiosks in the mall? The people with the kiosks get more people traffic I would imagine. Do they pay as much rent?

For the little space they occupy they pay more in rent.

No one is disputing the permit requirement.

The steep price for the permit is in question.
 
Yeah, equal application of the law is a real bitch. On the up side, maybe the government created a future pro-small business candidate for office.
 
Wow, you people are crazy. If anything, she's going to under-cut the other vendors and force them to sell their lemonade at lower prices. There's nothing wrong with a little forced competition.

Sure, and if the local Mexican restaurant didn't have to deal with all those permits and inspections, they could lower prices too.
 
The problem with this entire situation isn't enforcing the laws, its the fact that there is a law that you need to pay $120 to serve lemonade. Why? Where does that $120 go?

Its just another instance of over-taxation (in every facet of life) and the American people taking it up the ass.

Why should anyone be the intended target? Can you give me one good reason why the .gov has a right to $120 of mine if I want to start a lemonade business? Is it... just because? I mean seriously, wtf. They already get to tax me on my profits.

And people wonder why companies move their factories outside of the US. With so many rules, fines,taxes, bribes, and other fees, you don't have enough left for a profit.

What reason does the .gov have for requiring a $120 license fee to sell lemonade. Sure, require a license. But does it really cost $120 to give them that license? If it fucking does, then we have a lot of inefficient bloat in our government and thats a huge motherfucking problem.

I think they have a right to regulate food vendor's at a fair. Some good citizen should have paid her fee. The location would probably also demand she have a food preperation certificate.
