One just needs to google to see what business leaders think about Obama and all the harm he has caused.

More about Obama's destructive NLRB and job killing policies...

Heh. Bush Cronies whine about Obama... and we're supposed to believe their version of events, take it as gospel... From Moon's rag, the Washington Times.

Have some more koolaid, Spidey...

Or at least he can read the speeches better that GW ever did.

Bush, reading? Shens. ;)

Seriously though, Obama actually is involved in creating many of his speeches (at least he was), and has the intellect and penmanship to prove it. He also has the ability to discuss issues offhand whereas Bush was never able to. The two are hardly on some level field for smarts. Anyone who thinks Bush has the mental acuity to think and talk (intelligently) at the same time need only replay the 2004 Presidential debates to find out how wrong they are.

How many speeches did Bush contribute to? I'm guessing if we discount input written in crayon and including pictures the number is zero.

That's just BS: If Obamacare has been huge anti-business driver you say it is, then why has unemployment gone DOWN significantly since Obamacare was passed in March, 2010? Also, the only tax Obama has advocated raising has been on the top 1% of individuals. I'd really like to know how that affects corporate decisions to hire and fire.

It went up from 9.5 in Mar 2010 to 9.8 in Jan 2011.

Counting our blessings: let's talk about how Obama is better than Bush

1. Obama reversed George Bush's stem cell research ban.

2. Obama is moving to make student loans less burdensome to young people

3. Obama is winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

4. In the conflicts Obama has gotten into (Libya) he has done so squarely in the international framework so as to not unduly burden the US military or taxpayer. He does this by enlisting allies and not being stupidly belligerent

Dude are you crazy?

The bias in here says you cannot give Obama any credit for anything good.

The unemployment rate in October, 2009, the end of the final Bush fiscal year, was 10%. It's been going down ever since. Or do you want to claim that Obama is responsible for budgets passed by the Bush Administration?

You do realize Obama was in Congress and voted YES to the budget, right? That means Obama owned it too.

The unemployment rate when Obama became President was 7.6%
http://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2009/feb/wk2/art02.htm

In Dec, 2009 it was 10%. In Dec 2011 it was back down to 8.5%, which is still 0.9% higher than when Bush left office.

Sigh...wishing for the good old days when Bush was in office and unemployement was not nearly as high as it is today.

Yeh, wishing for the faux prosperity of a massive policy induced credit bubble, pretending it was real, ignoring the inevitable consequences. Here's a spiffy graph, shows us the employment trend as the bubble collapsed-

Obviously, it's all Obama's fault. Everything. At least in the minds of Right Wing Denialists.

Stimulus wore off as the fabled "Job Creators" hoarded liquidity, huh?

Record amounts of idle cash hoardes demands one solution for employment: more tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Clearly if they just had a bit MORE cash sitting idle...

No need to even get into the huge amounts parked offshore as they keep it untaxed out of the US economy gambling that they'll be able to lobby their way to a 'tax holiday' for it.

Every president has input guiding their speeches, even Bush. Some more than others - JFK often re-wrote parts, though he had the great writer Sorensen.

IIRC, Bush was known to direct a message or phrase be used. Others he wasn't involved in, like the '16 words' about Iran and nukes in his State of the Union.

The 'Obama telemprompter' claim is just idiotic propaganda fed by the Repubolican moron handlers to their base voters to run around parroting.

I would not hold Obama accountable for the mess if he did not promise he would rapidly fix it by spending a TRILLION DOLLARS. But we both know he did, so we both know he bought the problem. Yes, the cost of Obama buying this mess was a TRILLION DOLLARS out of the pockets of the taxpayers, but Obama certainly bought it.

Or are you going to revise history on this?

Actually, it is quite true. Obama even read SOMEONE ELSE'S speach from the teleprompted and THANKED HIMSELF for hosting a party.

Obama did not even blink an eye when he said "...and I want to thank President Obama...", he just kept on reading. Of course the Irish Premier, when he went to read next, said "I think these are your lines, Mr. President" and did not make a fool of himself.

But keep on believing that Obama does not blindly read whatever is on the teleprompter and keep on believing that Obama actually has pre-read what is there...

~$775B to be more precise, which is the reason the curve turned up when it did, rather than continuing its descent. He and his advisors underestimated the wreckage left in the wake of the Ownership society, as did a lot of others. At least you acknowledge that he inherited the situation, unlike others who claim it's "the Obama recession".

And you'll need to quote Obama to establish that he made such a claim, that the stimulus would "fix it".

Your framing is extremely dishonest- had McCain been elected, he'd have faced the same issues and likely would have done even less to turn it around, "Free Market!" ideology being what it is.

Huh? You link to a guy who simply says "nuh uh" and shows no support for it? Somehow, this means "owned"?

It should be easy enough for you to show the video of this event. I cannot seem to find it. I can find videos of him speaking in Scranton in 2009...and the 2010 and 2011 White House St. Patrick's day events. The 2010 one shows the Leader of Ireland joking about the teleprompter messup and having his speech on paper this year...but absolutely no videos of the 2009 speech.

Seems to me if there was nothing to hide, the video would be on the white house website with all the other videos. Seems to me if this never happened, you could easily pull up the video of the event and show it did not happen.

People do not hide things which show they did nothing bad...it is the other way around.

But yeah, you can keep thinking Obama is some awesome public speaker who does not rely on the teleprompter...

EDIT: Here is the offical Sky News report. Sky News is a reputable news source.

12:26pm UK, Wednesday March 18, 2009

A teleprompt blunder has led to Barack Obama thanking himself in a speech at the White House in a St Patrick's Day celebration.

Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address in Washington when he realised it all sounded a bit too familiar.
It was. He was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just read from the same teleprompter.
Mr Cowen stopped, turned to the president and said: "That's your speech."
A laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium to take over but it seems the script had finally been switched and the US president ended up thanking himself for inviting everyone to the party.
Mr Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the "teleprompt president" over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech.

Earlier in the day, the president claimed an Irish ancestry, saying his mother's family could be traced back to Ireland.

He joked to Cowen: "We may be cousins. We haven't sorted that through yet."
Speaking in the Oval Office, he told the Irish premier:"Not all Americans are Irish but all Americans support those who stand on the side of peace and peace will prevail."
The fountains at the White House were dyed green for the day at the request of the First Lady and guests at the cocktail reception drank green sparkling wine from a Californian vineyard.
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon from Northern Ireland and Maggie McCarthy, a traditional Irish dancer and musician from Cork, and the vocal group Celtic Thunder all attended.
Mr Obama joked about the free-flowing bar and warned his guests not to wear lampshades on their heads in front of the cameras.

If I was quoting Obama in my first post, I would have used a quote. What is your understanding of why Obama wanted to spend almost a billion (the first bill was almost 900 million) dollars? Did he want to do it to ensure the economy did not get better?

You do not remember the President's now infamous graph?

Irrelevant, we are not talking about McCain. We are talking about Obama. I realize you might not be able to tell them apart due to Obama acting much like McCain said he would act, but I think you need to realize they are not the same person.

First you claimed that $1T was spent, backpedaled to Obama wanting to spend $900B, then post a graph that confirms what I offered- that the Bush admin had screwed the economic pooch much worse than anybody knew at the time... proving my point entirely. Thanks.

Which indicates that the $775B spent really wasn't enough to have the desired effect... $1T probably wouldn't have either...

No backpedaling...it is called rounding to make it easier to write out. Man, you are so lame if this is your "ha ha, he is stupid" support...

then post a graph that confirms what I offered- that the Bush admin had screwed the economic pooch much worse than anybody knew at the time... proving my point entirely. Thanks.

You have a short term memory problem.

Which is why Obama gets the blame. He wasted money on something he claimed would work but did not. All it did was hurt the nation by pushing us rapidly deeper into debt.

That's right- Duh-vert! into the right wing meme about Obama & teleprompters...

I am simply waiting for someone to talk about how Obama is BETTER than Bush. Bush was not the best public speaker...but Obama sucks without his teleprompter.
