Counterfeits, it's more than just cash being forged.

do you expect me to read ALL of that?

Unless you name is Corkey from the TV Show "Life Goes On" then It should only take less than 5 min. Well maybe longer if you are lazy or uneducated and dropped out in fourth grade.
I have about 15 minutes in the morning on the internet, while I eat breakfast. Seriously, the chances of dropping 5 min on anything that could be sufficiently summarized in two sentences is not high.

How did you manage to get 44056 posts in those 15 mins/day? 😉

As for the article, it was interesting. As someone pointed out, the market will route them out. Obviously China is both entering the age of industry and adding modern technoogy to the mix. As for whether priracy hirts me, it's hard to say.
On some idealistic level, it causes prices to rise and theres the whole idea of honestly.

That said, I buy my software and music legally, more so for the honesty part, and not beause I'm helping companies etc.

I agree, there are a ton of them registered on this server.

I would hate to find out when it's too late that my air bags, winshield, and brakes were counterfeit.

I also doubt that counterfiet winsheids have the same level of protection that the real mc coy has to offer. Because before there was lamenated safety glass, people were getting shards of the stuff embedded in their faces and were and still are mostly un-removeable.
Remember though, not everything that is a clone/knock-off/counterfeit is inferior. While for most drugs there's incentive to cut costs with the ingrediants, with the HP ink cartridges almost all of the cost is fluff for HP, so an equally good cartridge can be made for far less.

Yes, but in the case of certain no-name ink companies, they are not counterfits. I have yet to see anyone market fake HP cartridges. Most of them pride themselves on being non-hp etc...

As for quality, you do have a somewhat legitimate point. In many cases counterfeits are quite good, but as the article says, it is one thing to have a non-life-saving knockff, and it is completely different once these pirates start messing with medicines etc...

The differance between no name Ink and counterfeiters is the no name companies use their own branding and do not try to package them off as Genuine HP replacement ink. Let the no name's exist and kill the counterfeiters.

It was an intersting article. The most interesting part, in my opinion, is that China is finally feeling the heat. For whatever reason it has always pissed me off knowing that the Chinese government didn't give a rat's ass if people in their country ripped off non-Chinese companies. Perhaps finally they will realize the impact that those conterfeit rings have on all economies.

Part of this is our own blame, washington won't stand up to China because they buy our debt which plugs the hole in our massive deficit spending. We have to play nice or else they won't buy our bonds anymore. One retarded thing about this situation is when clinton was president, people were bitching left and right that the democrats sold us out to the chinese. But now that bush is whoring us out to the chinese, no one gives a f*ck.

There was an interesting point made in one of the military intelligence articles recently.

Apparently, China has acquired enough of US currency in the form of bonds, if they "dropped it on the market", basically just dumped it, it would essentially shut down the US economy. If the US tried to not honor the bonds, then, obviously, WE devalue ALL our bonds (a bond that may or may not be honored has no value), and our economy tanks all the same.

This may be a bargaining chip China is buying that is better than nuclear warheads. They are acquiring the capability to completely destroy the US overnight without firing a shot.

Very Good point. This is partialy how we beat the Soviet Union; We merely increased our defence budget to a point where if Russia wanted to keep an edge they had to increase theirs. The problem for The Commies was we increased our so much that It drove them into backruptcy and eventualy collapse.

They can't exist though, their existence as a legit company will have HP on their ass for producing ink cartridges, which is violating the DMCA(Lexmark has successfully used this in court). It's a really ugly issue where in some industries the established players keep out competition, so counterfeiting pops up in response.

It took me 5 minutes to read but will take 30 for me to write a shortend summary. As far as I am concerned this is the Cliff's version Its already shortend and provides mimimal Information on this topic.

I guess I won't even try to ask you to get off your lard filled ass and exercise. No wonder America is so fat, these people are so lazy they cannot even bother to read.. Pitiful.

Googer, I learned this remarkable skill set in school called reading and comprehension and I am actually able to read entire paragraphs!! Imagine that.

Good article and thanks!

Real Pfizer can kill if taken Incorrectly. The real stuff can help you, but counterfeit drugs do nothing to fight disease.

Interesting article, but it's clear where the author's priorities are, simply by their (despite such lengthy writing) lumping everything into one big old counterfeit basket.

"Counterfeiting" implies deception or fraud, and IMO, A Chinese company selling a knockoff of a Japanese bike to a Chinese (or any nationality) consumer who knows damn well that the reason he is paying half price is because it wasn't made in Japan, does not fall under that category.

Largely, the article was FUD written to justify our current government's position on importing prescription drugs.

By the way, if you were an unethical global pharmeceutical company (is there another kind?) losing profit to placebo boner pills, one of the first things you would do would be to deliberately contaminate a stream of medically critical drugs - preferably through a channel (i.e. internet, Mexican border) that was known to pass gray-market drugs into the U.S.

It's pretty bad when you cut and paste (rather than just LINK) an article about counterfeiting and still can't spell it right.

- M4H

Lets get a change of attitude here! I did include the link but you cannot read so what does it matter?

Quoted for proof of your stupidity.

- M4H

We need more proof?

We're already well beyond "reasonable doubt" - might as well go full swing into "character assassination" 😀

Lets be nice.

OP wasn't being nice when he posted ALL of this expecting us to read it-

Oh, and cliff notes would be nice

In China they have everything from fake eggs to fake soy sauce. I recalled a case of fake infant formula which killed around 30 childrens. You can't trust anything in China. My cousin got a fake LV bag which she bought from a 5 stars hotel shop.
