Unboxed this from an Operation Phoenix case this morning.

$350-400 on the Steam marketplace.

People placing ridiculous monetary values on non-essential virtual items.

I'm in the wrong business.

When it's a random drop I wont complain about getting something the market finds worth $300+

Sure it's stupid, but the people will pay.

I'm still surprised every day by how much a friggin virtual skin goes for in that game, heck some pieces in DoTA 2 go for some ludicrous prices. I should play that game on a more regular basis just to pocket a profit from the people silly enough to pay these prices.

Insane. It does not even look very good.

Congrats to you on the find though!

I have two knives I unboxed, along with a variety of other things... I don't care about the look, but I do like StatTrak pieces for the numbers on them :)

So I've taken the pieces I've gotten and sold a lot of them in order to trade them for StatTrak pieces instead. They may not be as pretty but I have a LOT of ST items. Still have two knives as well.

Yeah, I can sell this and pick up 1 or 2 ST knives of lower quality if I wanted to.

A flip knife or a Gut knife or something. Then still have enough for a low quality ST AWP asiimov or something similar.

But it wasn't a random drop, you purchased a key to open it ($3). You could have purchased that case for what 15 cents?

Reminds me of the TF2 hat I sold for $400. That digital hat bought me a LOT of games...

The case was free, the key was $2.30

and I only open free cases i get dropped. So I don't open too many cases. I have probably spent ~$20 on keys total in this game. Not bad investment for a $300+ knife.

Is there a safe way to sell that for real money is my question.

There are sites set up to do cash or key trades. They can be a bit more sketchy though, I plan on just using it for awhile. Then maybe selling around christmas time and buy any games I want off steam for the next year or so with the $ in my steam wallet.

One way would be to have your friends pay you to gift games to them (maybe with a small discount since they're your friends).

It's not really a drop. CS GO does have drops. Knives are not dropped. You got it from a case (which you paid to open).

You can sell it on the Steam Market safely, but that money is tied to Steam so it's only useful if you wanted to spend it all on games.

To sell it for cash, I would try reddit. I've sold several of my Star Citizen ships through trusted middlemen via a subreddit made specifically for buying and selling pledges.

You paid to open it. You gambled with real money. It's not a drop and no one in CS GO calls anything that comes out of a case a drop.

Lol, try harder

Also, if you read the thread you'd see i've only spent around $20 total on keys since i bought the game.

but hey, hate more if you like :p

It boggles the mind that people are willing to part with hundreds of actual dollars for an ingame item that offers no performance advantage of any kind. I could buy a PS4 with The Last of Us AND GTA V... but what I really want is a knife with a gradient pattern in this two-year-old game. I can't even hate the despicable **** who convinced people that this was worth investing hours of their work in; you can't help but admire the balls of someone who says "yeah, this meaningless item is worth more than a full week of work at McDonalds." That's a level of dastardly that would make Satan envious.

They are randomly dropped at the end of a match. Just play on the regular casual playlist and you can get them there just fine. (that's where I got the one that dropped the knife)

Or you can buy them off the steam marketplace. That might be your best option if you already have keys. as certain keys only open certain cases. So if you have a huntsman case, you need a huntsman key. If you have an Esports case you need the Esports key. Etc etc.

If you for example have just CS:GO case keys, you might want to go to the market and buy CS:GO cases. They sell anywhere from $0.10 to $4 I think.

Tldr: it depends what keys you own.

If this knife were stat trak it would have been worth $1k+

The most expensive knife I believe sold for a bit over $10,000
