Just anyone at random? No.

Some malicious douche that preys on others? Easily.

The saying that "some people are only alive because its illegal to kill them" has rung true for me on many occasions.

Wouldn't bother me one bit. The last and only thing I'd ever know about them would be the smug look on their face as they "made someone their bitch" before they realized they weren't getting the final word after all, and it would just make me angry again remembering that disgusting smug face.

Self control. I haz it.

No way.

Hypothetical- Let's assume you love someone very much. As an example let's say that loved one is your young child who looks to you for protection. Someone has him or her in front of you and there is no doubt that the little one will die. You have one opportunity to save your own and that is to end the life of the one threatening. There is no clever out. One dies.

Who is it?

I could easily kill someone, but in society as it exists today the consequences outweigh the benefits. In a SHTF scenario (economic collapse, nuclear war, zombies) I'd have no problem with it.

only if it's a cyclist riding on my road. I wouldn't feel bad about it either - they don't pay road taxes and I can't be inconvenienced by their existence, so they deserve to die.

One of my wife's cousins is in jail for murder. Some shit was beating up his daughter constantly and nothing was being done. He did something about it and is now is prison... probably not the best way to go about it but I think he was at wits end.

Like others have said... I hope I never have to find out. Most transgressions I would let the justice system take its course... but if someone were to harm my children sexually or some other bad physical abuse I would probably rage.

Oh, yes. I'm going with poison, rather than messy firearms.

When women kill they do tend to do so with poison rather than firearms -- and interesting difference between the sexes -- the method of choice for men is firearms, at least in places where firearms are readily available like the USA.

Cold blooded killers like psychopaths tend to kill using their hands or knives and there victim of choice is most often prostitutes...

Yes, I value my life and the lives of the ones I care about over some strangers. It's selfish but it is what it is.

Yes...and probably not miss a second of sleep over it.

Do I get to pick my victim target and method?

I hope I never find out. I also have a wife and little girl but can't imagine actually killing someone that killed them by drunk driving. It wouldn't bring them back and I can't imagine it would make me feel any better. I can imagine not really having a reason to live myself. Like I said, hope I never find out.

Maybe if I were in a Liam Neason situation where my wife and/or daughter were kidnapped and sold into the sex slave industry I would go berserk and kill everyone in my way.

But only if I were Liam Neason. And only if movies were real.

so if someone had a gun pointed at you and there was a loaded gun within reach, you wouldn't even think of defending yourself?

Yes, but I would hope I'd try and injure or disarm the person rather than killing them. You don't get far in life playing cowboy. Any smart person knows you try and deescalate the situation before it comes to that.

Yes you would go for the gun and defend yourself?

give me a license to kill and I honestly don't need much incentive to kill someone.

Are we talking self defense, or premeditated deliberate murder?

Self defense, almost certainly with little thought or issue. I've had my finger slip from the guard to the trigger before (couple times) and if they hadn't immediately surrendered/ran I'm certain I would have started firing.

Deliberate murder would take a bit more...you'd have to seriously harm someone I cared about (I'm looking at you Billy Ray), or be someone I considered seriously dangerous evil (W got damn close).

Based on the OP clarification, the person would have to have severely hurt (purposefully) someone I cared about. Billy Ray Nelson is the perfect example (the ONLY one thus far in my life). If he ever gets out of prison the Law Abiding Citizen II script will pretty much write itself.

Believe me...I pray it never happens.

But I do carry a gun just in case I need to find out.

You pray for that? o_O SRSLY??? o_Oo_Oo_O I think that's just something gun owners say so that they don't come off looking completely crazy to the rest of society.

Personally, I pray for normal stuff... like winning the lottery. :p

OP HERE...

It would be a 100% Premeditated/Revenge killing, not self-defense. For example...your spouse and child are murdered, the murderer goes to jail for 10 years, you wait patiently till the day they're released and you pretty much find them and kill them.
