Could you kill someone....

I was hanging with some people and one of them said something like..."if they did that to me I would kill them". And of course the other guys chimed in with similar comments.

But could you really kill someone?

I have to say it would take a lot for me, perhaps if you killed both my wife and little girl (maybe a drunk driver, murdered, or something like that). It would have to be enough that I would have to literally lose my soul and sink into a very dark place were remorse did not exist. G-d forbid of course.

EDIT to clarify:
It would be a 100% Premeditated/Revenge killing, not self-defense. For example...your spouse and child are murdered, the murderer goes to jail for 10 years, you wait patiently till the day they're released and you pretty much find them and kill them.

What would it take for you to go over the edge?

I hope I never find out. I also have a wife and little girl but can't imagine actually killing someone that killed them by drunk driving. It wouldn't bring them back and I can't imagine it would make me feel any better. I can imagine not really having a reason to live myself. Like I said, hope I never find out.

Yes, under certain circumstances I'm pretty sure I could. Not a drunk driver, for the same reasons dank69 mentioned, but the next time my daughter leaves the bathroom light on? Yeah. Maybe.

I think I probably could without any issues. I just couldn't live in a world where one of my children were murdered and their killer was still allowed to live. It would eat away at me.

Law Abiding Citizen comes to mind (only up to the first two killings. Then he just went nuts lol)

I'm way too empathetic. I don't think I could ever kill anyone unless me or my family were in extreme danger.

Yeah, I suppose I might be able to kill in the defense of another. Not sure if I would kill in defense of myself. Again, hope I never find out.

Believe me...I pray it never happens.

But I do carry a gun just in case I need to find out.

Only a hooker and only on Thursday nights.

I will do everything in my power not to but if I had to yes. Retaliatory killing hell no, my parents always advised if you ever kill somebody intentionally or not it ties you to them for life even if you're not caught. They aren't like bugs that we swat and forget about two minutes later. At least for those with a conscience.

Oh and as far as 'over the edge' I really can't say but it'd have to be in defense of myself or my family (my friends are dicks so they can go).

Strippers are just trying to work their way through school.

I kill all the people I want to. That number is zero. I doubt I could ever willingly do it in sound mind. Accidents are a different story but never deliberately.

so if someone had a gun pointed at you and there was a loaded gun within reach, you wouldn't even think of defending yourself?

Absolutely. If the history of our race is any indicator, it shows that EVERYONE is capable of killing another.

Once I put a knife to my brother's neck, because he enraged me. Couldn't pull it off.

But given the right circumstances, I could probably snap real good.

It gets easier with practice though. Keep an eye on policemen and soldiers, or anyone using a lethal weapon regularly even for sport. Desensitization will set in, and they will have much less hesitation to kill you.
I'd also be weary of butchers.

Self control and valuing other life is a learned skill, that can be all too easily forgotten or un-learned with some conditioning.

Many people have a bang bang dead perception of what killing someone is like, probably influenced by the movies. I bet all these tough guys who almost yearn for the chance to shoot someone would find it not so glamorous if they have to watch their victim slowly bleed out and cry for help.

Yes, I could do it and probably would if I was carrying all the time. (Left lane hogs have a death wish.)

Anyhow, I do not carry since it is not in my best interests to spend a future in prison.

you already have a holster, go for it.

It will fit most model Glocks. 26, 27, 19 and 21 for sure.

I don't have a glock, I only have a S&W Model 686+, and it's a bit large to try to conceal. That said, I do have friends who are all excited about the IL law changes and going through the motions to get their CC licenses.

Anyhow, as I said, I do not want to carry, since I think I'd lose my temper and kill somebody who deserves it.
