I used to have a buddy that could drink a fifth of peppermint schnapps in under 1 minute. I know it's only 36 proof, but between the burning of the peppermint and the alcohol I never could do more than 1/4 of the bottle before I had to pause.

All the peppermint schnapps I've had was 100 proof. Where do you find 36 proof schnapps?

My record alcohol consumption was 22 beers and 5 shots over the course of about 4 hours. I'm not proud about that at all, and have since cut down my drinking quite a bit, instead of cheap strong beer I like to go with strong beer and less of them (e.g. polishing off a few Storm Kings by Victory brewing company).

Well, I'm 23 and in the military, so binge drinking is somewhat of a sport. As mentioned previously, I'm near or past a dozen in two hours and I have to write an exam tomorrow. I'll wake up with minimal hangover.

To put a perspective on the matters, I've officially joined the "Century Club," 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes (that's 5% Alexander Keiths).

I'm not proud.

Shots of beer? You mean a typical shot glass shot? That's like 1.5 ounces. So 100 is about 4.4L. Which is fairly similar to a 12 pack.

Most flavors of Schnapps falls between 15% and 35% ABV. I've got about 10 flavors on the shelf and just about everyone one is different. Rumplemintz is the name brand 100 proof peppermint schnapps, but Dekuyper makes both 100 proof (50% ABV) and 60 proof (30% ABV.)

But Ice 101 is the name brand 101 proof peppermint schnapps!

That was a joke...but 12 standard cans no problem. At one point I was drinking 36+ a day...

Yeah but 36 a day is easier than 12 in an hour, since after about 14 you start losing track of your can, and open lots but don't finish very many;)

I always thought the century club was 100 beers in 100 hours (a 3 day weekend that you tack Friday onto.) 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes? I think that in college, it would be hard to find guys who WEREN'T in that century club.

edit: and by the way, when did you younger generation idiots bastardize the game of beer pong? It used to be 2 cups on each side and you actually played pingpong, attempting to hit the beers. (Or put the ball in a beer.) You drank per point = hitting a beer.

We actually play 'beirut'

American schnapps

American schnapps are alcoholic beverages that are produced by mixing neutral grain spirit with fruit flavors or with other flavors. This mixture is then bottled with added sugar and (usually) glycerine, producing a smooth, syrup-like drink. Their alcohol content can be anywhere between 15% and 50% ABV (30–100 proof).
American schnapps can be bought in a very wide variety of flavors, including aniseed, apricot, banana, blackberry, black currant (aka crème de cassis), butterscotch, cherry, cinnamon, coffee, lemon, mandarin orange, menthol mint, peach, peppermint, root beer, and sour apple.
These drinks technically fall into the category of liqueurs because of their added sugar content.[5]

I haven't drank schnapps in 30 years, but back then it seemed all schnapps were 36 proof. I remember when I first saw Rumplemintz, it was an oddity.

You won’t find it in the Guinness Book of World Records, but Andre the Giant holds the world record for the largest number of beers consumed in a single sitting. These were standard 12-ounce bottles of beer, nothing fancy, but during a six-hour period Andre drank 119 of them. It was one of the few times Andre got drunk enough to pass out, which he did in a hallway at his hotel. His companions, quite drunk themselves, couldn’t move the big man. Fearing trouble with cops, they stole a piano cover from the lounge and draped it over Andre’s inert form. He slept peacefully until morning, unmolested by anyone. Perhaps the hotel people thought he was a piece of furniture.

Think about it: 119 beers in six hours. That’s a beer every three minutes, non stop. That’s beyond epic. It’s beyond the ken of mortal men.

The century is actually a lot harder than it seems. I have to assume it's due to the constant flow of alcohol without a break.

I knew drinkers who had trouble with the hour of power, let alone the century.
