He's full of shit because Pelosi said she would in fact accept the results

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday said "of course" she would accept November's election results as legitimate"

Ask Pelosi when they should stop counting ballots. At some point they will be thrown out as invalid. Others will show up lost and needing to be counted. Ask her when we'll have the election results. Because it seems to me that there will be plenty to contest this time around.

Fine. They can still make him a lame duck the 2nd term if he somehow won.
The odds of conviction for Trump are effectively zero.

As far as making him a lame duck, I doubt it. All those ways you think our government used to work are no longer true. The whole reprogramming of Pentagon school funds to his pet construction projects and movement of COVID mitigation funds into unemployment? That's just the beginning.

While the Democrats taking both houses of Congress AND Trump winning is not a very likely outcome if that were the case he will just ignore Congress and then dare them to do something about it. Republicans in the Senate won't vote to convict, and that will be that.

There's really no reason to ask her that, we all know she's only going to contest it if there's a meaningful chance of victory available and the mail in ballots should all be sorted within a week or so.

There's zero need for worry on the Democratic side. If Biden loses they will go meekly down as Trump destroys what remains of our Democracy. If Trump loses though I strongly suspect he will not go quietly and on top of that we will face a low level ultra right wing insurgency.

Without reading the whole damn thread. To my admittedly non constitutional scholar understanding is if the winner cannot be determined by a certain day via the Electoral Collage. The Senate votes whom will be Vice President and the House votes whom will be President.
This does not mean it will be Nancy & Mitch, it could mean that but realistically in this fantasy scenario the House would choose President Biden and the Senate would choose I’m not sure, I’d guess not Trump, maybe Pence but more likely it would be Nikki Haley (spelling?) she is a rising star and they could claim to seat the first minority and woman VP. Just a guess.
Point is the House selects President which could literally be anyone who is old enough and native born and the Senate picks VP which again could be anyone old enough and native born.

Edit: I believe the article is very specific about this as in if the EC cannot certify by X day, Congress shall meet to vote on Y date (I think it was January 5th)
No foot dragging, no silly dilly dallying, putting the vote off, no shelving it.

And I agree, this will get ugly any way you slice it. For the 1st time I'm considering buying a gun.

Yes putz, I will be here, fighting left wing cancel culture, protecting free speech, enjoying leftists wail!
So you'll be continuing to scream at the mirror while letting us all watch you flail about.

Sounds good, champ.

Classic trollery, diverting away from obvious falsehoods you tried to perpetrate. Only Trump has said he might not accept the results of the election. His old friend & pardoned felon Roger Stone even laid out a plan of action should he lose-

Here's the rub, and what I've been saying for awhile now.

Those plans aren't in case he loses. Those are the plans that will be policy by November.

That's why it is imperative that everyone votes early, in person.

Do not wait until Nov. 3. Shit, don't wait until November.

And vote in person. It'll be a lot harder to tamper with ballots that are cast inside the precinct.

Once Trump is out of the White House and no longer Commander in Chief of the armed forces, then you can vote by mail all you want.

Hmmm, interesting, it seems the constitution states that if the electoral collage cannot determine a clear winner by January 20 2021
it defaults to the speaker, WOW........

It would be delicious. Absolute poetic justice, especially if she could serve the term out. I think she has a head on her shoulders.

Note: The guy who wrote the linked piece was a Republican consultant and he appears to be partisan.

So the democrats can take the white house by simply screwing with the election. Not the worst idea I've ever heard.
That is a low blow, you know. Why do you denigrate the people with integrity, you make yourself out a lout by doing that.

Actually, if the Republicans don't screw with the election they're going to flat out lose. So, that's their strategy now, whether they admit it or not, doesn't matter when their rhetoric is. Judge them by their actions, not their words.

BTW, if the House is tied and dems take a majority in the Senate, then Harris will become POTUS. That's at least as likely as Pelosi if not more.
I personally think Pelosi would make a better POTUS than Harris. But I'd take Harris over any Republican, no question whatsoever.

I thought if the Democrats took both house and senate, they could impeach both Trump and Pence and convict, and then Pelosi would naturally become interim President?
IIRC they'd need 60 votes in the Senate to convict.

We've got a rotten system, right now fairly rotten to the very core. A main focus of the next Democratic administration should be to limit the powers of the presidency, as illogical as that may seem for a party that has just regained power. The unbridled corruption, the incredible abuses of power have to be addressed ASAP or we're toast. Michelle Obama was right. Stop this now or we're done.

67. You're thinking fillibusters.
Yeah. And we should do something to stop filibusters. Gerrymandering too. Also, Citizens United cloud hiding big money influence in politics should be done away with. We need sound principles. We don't have them now.
