Or they might just have a different point of view. People are different, they like different things, this is why they make paint in more than one color. I can disagree with someone and still respect their opinion, or at the very least understand how they arrived at it. I don't assume that because someone disagrees with me they're stupid or deranged (except in Moonies case, and it took me some time to arrive at that conclusion). I generally assume that the differing opinion comes from a different set of experiences or an education with a different focus than mine.

You like to follow this as an evolutionary observation, which is certainly an interesting view, and may well contain truths that I hadn't considered before. But I generally view threads such as this from the prospective of simple manners. What Moonie is doing is nothing more than trying to insult others. He's decided that he doesn't like a group of people, so he chooses to denigrate them. That's bad manners, it's disrespectful, and shouldn't be tolerated. I know my view of the issue is far more simplistic than yours, but I believe it's equally as relevant.

I'm certainly not sure about anything regarding what makes people think or act. I think, however, I do know that there is something about what one thinks and acts regarding themselves and their family and then extrapolating that into the lives of others.

For instance: I don't think I could even contemplate having an abortion (if I were a woman and pregnant) but I couldn't try to force that position on anyone else. Folks then argue that it is immoral to abort a fetus and what about the potential rights of that entity and etc... While I think there are parameters of moral...


The rest of animal life seems to have just a few concerns... Eating and keeping from being eaten and making babies.
What allowed humans to evolve so far beyond say... a chimp. When human and chimp split from their common ancestor in more or less the same place with the same concerns what made us develop all this mind power and the chimp lag? Something happened to the human tree... Anyway, I think we still have the basic predisposition to be the Alpha Ape but can't so we go about using other means to sate that need. Our genes must contain the same bits the apes have and it seems plausible that while we refer to their actions as normal we suppress our own and in so doing call what we adopted as our alpha male activity obviously right or axiomatic.

Moonster says language is the problem... and I say language is the vehicle through which we communicate our need to demand compliance with our belief... our genetically derived alpha satiation. We could just as easily say Each to their own and let it go at that ... but we don't. We say our God is God and yours ain't... What can cause that?

Either a God did plant us here or we've evolved beyond our ability to 'reasonably' co exist given our intellectual capability. IF God is God then there it is... if not then we need to recognize we are defective to the extent we don't have the rules of nature as the apes do and move toward some solution that allows everyone to be an Alpha person.
