could a black lab knock up a mini doxie? EDIT: Should I sell the pups?

UPDATE: Its looking like the lab found a way. There are 5 pups. Both the mini doxie and the lab are pure bred. Anyone know what a fair price for those pups would be?

If what you're asking is possible, will all future litters be black labs regardless of what breed knocks up the Mini Duchshund afterwards?

If you suspect that the mini dachshund is pregnant by the lab, get her to the vet. He (edit: may) give her a shot to cause her to abort the puppies (has to be done fairly early in the pregnancy.) We've run into that problem before with other animals; no big deal if you deal with it right away... But, if you let it go a couple of weeks, then it IS a big deal - it can kill the female. The shot is just hormones; something or other with "lute" in the name; just called "lute" for short. (At least, I think that's what they use with canines.) You could ask Alkemyst if you wanted to be certain of the medication name. He was almost a vet or zoologist, or something. :p

edit: lutalyse. But everyone calls it lute.

I keep wondering if I should find my video of two of our dogs going at it & post it on youtube. (Or, will it get me banned from youtube?)

Our 8 pound miniature pinscher standing on a chair, doing his very best attempt to impregnate our Great Pyrenees. (well over 100 pounds and looks my wife straight in the eyes when she stands on her hind legs.)

I found it interesting in any case. It's something I've always wondered, but didn't care enough to look up.

The reverse would also be interesting. I wonder what a mini pinsch and Great Pyrenees blend would trn out like.

I am betting they could mate, the offspring would look a lot like a black chewbacca..

no. they would have to artificially inseminate them.

they do it with other dog breeds, too. some breeds have bodies that make it impossible for them to mate, so they are artificially bred (french bulldogs, for example).

I've wondered that a couple of times, but resist the urge to go against nature's safeguards to prevent such a breeding to occur. Her size, her strength, combined with his big dog in a little dog body attitude - on Red Bull... it could inadvertently lead to the downfall of mankind.
