OP is confused because Costco doesn't sell Uncle Ben's Rice. 😉

They sell the same brands as other local markets; the very same bulk bags you'll find at the asian market.

No.

Sugar is a crystal molecule with a certain property.

Saying rice is rice is more like saying a potato is a potato.

Blue Ribbon = cracker rice. It sucks. Jasmine rice is the best.

This is correct. American rice sucks. Thai Jasmine rice in the 25 lb 'Flying Horses' 'Twin Elephants' 'Whatever the hell they decided to name it that day' bags with all the funky medals and ribbons on them is the only way to go.

My god, the horror.

My local costco switched brands one day and only had this. I made the mistake of buying it instead going elsewhere for normal Jasmine.

Huge mistake!!!

its not a perfect comparison but there are many different potato types as well, low starch, high starch..waxy etc. if you use the wrong type for your dish it won't be as good. that being said none are disgusting like the costco rice. cr@p aint gonna turn into gold.

I think the wetness of the rice is largely dependent on how you prepare it..

This

I only buy Costco rice, it's actually very good quality. Same with their meat selection; better than average quality and lower than average price.

Oh yeah? Well I've been cooking rice for 16 years, and Costco rice comes out great if you don't overcook it.

It's not Costco rice per say, it's the Blue Ribbon rice that has started appearing to replace its previous Jasmine counterpart. If you're expecting Jasmine, the Blue Ribbon is totally different.
