COSTCO RETURN POLICY

I'm not to sure if this post even belongs here, but to me, I think its an awesome deal. Just incase someone out there doesnt or didnt know (i.e. me), Costco has a return policy that blows every competitor away. UNLIMITED RETURN policy. Its insane. You can basically but any electronic, and return it any time you want!!!(as long as you have all the items, box, manuals, cables etc...). I dont know what else to say, but WOW!

Dont believe me? Check PC Magazine's latest issue. They did a review about B&M Stores, and called 3 different Costcos and asked them :

"If i were to buy a laptop, and use it for a year, I can return it for a full money back?"

Store Managers: "Yes, as long as every thing is intact"

Personally I have yet to try this, but wow!

And as soon as you and your buddies start doing this regularly,
Costco will stop that policy, to the detriment of people who have
a legitimate reason to return things...

As they say "The meek shall inherit the earth...if there's anything
left..."

This is off topic and hopefully will get an immediate lock before
every leach sees it...

wow...that's a great return policy. too bad i don't have a costco near me (missouri)! We do have lots of walmarts and kmarts and they have a 90 day return policy in electronics, but i think for computers it's 30 days.

Sounds great if the item breaks. I DO NOT think anyone should take advantage of this. I know a few unscrupulous people will. The CLOWNS that do will drive membership costs and prices up for the rest of us.

let me get this straight...we should close this thread so only a few people that know about this policy can take advantage of it, while the vast majority stays clueless?

Nice.

I know someone at work that did this. They returned their 15 month old computer and walked out the door with a new one. Costco didn't even bat an eye.

There is no reason this should be locked. Some people aren't trolls and immediately want to abuse their system. The people who do abuse it, probably have been doing it for years now and putting it up on AT isn't going to make them cancel this policy tomorrow. Seems HOT to me!!

NO LOCK!!

Well the reason behind the entire return policy is simple. Costco operates directly from the manufacturer (Duh), but the reason they can do it is, since they send the materials back completely intact, they dont lose money. Its entirely the manufacturer. Costco doesnt sell a lot of electronics, so most of their stuff is sent back to the manufacturer, RTV'd. So costco will undoubtedly lose nothing from this deal.

Oh besides....this information was featured on a PC MAGAZINE article. For goodness sake, I believe more people will find this information out from the magazine, and not through this forum board.

Yes I have heard their olicy is THAT good. It will only continue if people don't try to rip them off. Even COSTCO will blink if all of a sudden people are lining up with old TVs VCRs PCs etc. A further note, if it's a Kirkland product you don't even need a receipt. That's their house brand. Use this information wisely and we'll all appreciate it in the future. Because a store truly cares about their customers, is NOT a reason to screw them.

There is some limit. I work there and it depends on alot of things. We kept track of every members sales and ofcourse if it becomes habit we look at that.
It also depens if we get credit , how much , how long you have been a member etc... But yes we do have a liberal erturn policy because you do pay to shop there. We take care of our customers. Just like your membership is 100% guranteed for a full refund at anytime. Our jewelry is also guraeenteed for a value of 200% for what you payed for it. All diamonds and some gem stones come with apraisals to state this.

BJ's Price Club also offers a similar policy. I can practically guarantee that the manager of the store will not take back a year old laptop. Don't believe me? Try it.

This doesn't sound quite right to me. Unless you have personal experience with this, my intuition would dispute that costco would lose nothing.

Dont kill the messenger 🙂. I only deliver this news from PC MAGAZINE. If their facts and information are wrong, take it up to them.

This should be locked because the way this is a hot deal is if you
plan on ripping Costco off by returning out of date stuff under
their ridiculously liberal return policy. If you don't plan on doing
that, then there's no hot deal here...

I'm a customer service rep at Circuit City. 🙂 I know what im talking about. We RTV stuff left and right...problem is we get charged 🙁

...and while you at Costco's return section, look up!
If you have no receipt or the item is more than 30 days, be carefull! Don't be surprised as you walk in the warehouse next time because eyes are on you at once. Don't ask me how I know because I work there as just a regular LP guy!
Peace.
I love this board as much as wating to confirm any good deal from Costco but this return thing is definately not as good as any one presumed.

I have a Costco near me (bklyn, NY). I've seen people return opened bottles of water (think about that for a sec) and dead plants.

BTW, if an item goes on sale or it is lowered since you bought it, they willl only give you the current amount with or without a reciept. I think they will honor the higher price with a reciept within 30 days but I"m not sure.

I pay $45 a year for the membership fee.
If they don't have such super return policy, why should I be a member there?

I heard about that, someone here once did mention about someone buy a computer and return after a year for something goes wrong, the refund amount can buy more than a new computer.

Too bad, I don't want to buy a pre-built computer. I can't take the benefit/advantage of this.

Their return policy doesn't have time limit, just requires receipt, and suggests you better to return within a month (just a suggestion).
I believe Sam's club is like Costco too.
This is why they're membership warehouse vs Walmart (same company as Sam's club if you don't know), Kmart, etc public warehouse with 90 days only return policy.
