ok, heres the facts:
everything BUT computers have lifetime "satisfaction guarantees" on them, for computers, they have the samee policy BUT it is limited to 6 months. they ask no questions about the product being returned. they can also pull up any recept if it was paid witha credit card (not sure about non cc purchases). i once returned a 3 year old cradked , out of production 17" lcd, and got my original purchase price in STORE CREDIT (they new it was cracked, i told them). they don't give out cash, just store credit. also, DO NOT abuse the system, but keep in mind that you do pay for this "satisfaction guarantee" as part of the purchase price, so don't be afraid to use it. manufacurer warranty period has nothing to do wth it, neither does it's appearance or its condition. as long as all the parts are there, it should be fine

at that point he probably was no longer satisfied with the purchase, so he took them up on their guarantee. he paid his yearly membership fees in order to use the system, i don't see that as abuse. if costco didn''t want people to use their return policy, they wouldn't offer it.

no longer satisfied? he cracked the LCD. last time i checked LCDs don't crack on their own. if that isn't abusing the system, what qualifies as abusing it?
