You're smoking crack. The Centenial Edition looks awesome!

Now go option out a Z06 on Chevrolet's site. The Centenial Special Edition and the Z06 Ultra Performance Package brings the Z06 right at $102K....and there are more options to add. However the Centenial Special Edition ZR1 comes in at $130K. Technically less than $30K difference, and you get an extra 100HP+ more. :)

Oops, I didn't realize the centenial edition gave you the magnetic selective ride control. I am indeed smoking crack. :D

Still, that's $95,000 vs $120,000 so a $25,000 difference for 1/10th of a second faster acceleration but a car that is overall more difficult to extract the most out of... which was my original point to this thread.

If I had the money, I'd buy the ZR1, hands down.

I wouldn't.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't buy a GT-R for Nissan's asking price. Great performance, awful looking car (well, not awful, just boring looking).

Not really a great argument since it's completely subjective. I, and many other people, think both the Corvette and GT-R look awesome.

Hell, here's a used ZR1 for sale for $92,000 This is the dealership I bought my Maxima from coincidentally. He must have traded it in for a GT-R.

Looks like this guy might have traded in his ZR1 for a GT-R. Why else would a 2009 ZR1 be for sale at a Nissan dealership? Maybe he traded it for a minivan? Or, perhaps a Nissan Maxima?

Dealerships trade and sell used cars to each other all the time. Same as with new car inventory. Just because a particular car is at X dealership, doesn't mean that that was the dealership at which someone traded in the car.

Really? I just optioned out a ZR1 on Edmunds.com and it came out to $120,000. I just optioned out a Z06 and even with the Centenial Edition (crack smoking opinion removed) and the machined wheels it came out to $95,000. So, it is still $25,000 more for the ZR1.

Well, I'm not retarded so instead of going to Edmunds to price out a Corvette, I went to Chevrolet's site and used their build your own feature. Last I checked, Chevrolet sold Corvettes, not Edmunds. That's where my price for the ZR1 came from. The Z06 price was pulled from the Road & Track article.

A base Z06 will not perform as close to a ZR1 as that article reported, because the Z06 reviewed was fully loaded with upgrade packages that contain most of the performance equipment that is stock on the ZR1. As I said in my previous post, there is only one performance upgrade available for the ZR1 which is basically PS Cup tires for $1500. Any other options you are adding to the ZR1 will do nothing to improve performance.

Doesn't mean it wasn't either. And moving cars around costs money.

The Centennial package is just a visual package available on non-base model Corvettes. There is nothing performance oriented except maybe the light weight wheels. The magnetic selective ride control is part of a different package for the Z06, and as already mentioned is a stock feature on a ZR1.

...ok? But your statement then of:

He must have traded it in for a GT-R

...is then false. No, he must not have. It happens all the time, especially with sports cars, although I don't know about exotics. Yes, it costs money. That kinda goes without saying.

I have personally seen cars I or family have traded in to dealerships end up across town at a dealership for a completely different marque. It's simply not uncommon. At all.

Probably true, but what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

That the prices aren't so close and the Z06 owner is not in the same demograph as the ZR1 owner.

It's like how people wonder why someone with the budget for a Ferrari buys a Porsche...the Porsche option list is very extensive and usually by the time they are optioned out in that same Ferrari budget.

In reality most of the larger dealerships have trucks that are never full going back and forth between them. They need to sell cars. If a car is on one lot too long people lose interest and/or begin making lower and lower offers. Selling a car on the first day it hits the dealership can usually command a premium with the whole "this baby won't last long here!"

Funny, I'm not retarded and I just priced a Z06 on Chevrolet's website and a brand new Z06 with the Z06 Ultimate Performance Package, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and the Z06 Carbon Fiber Package came in at $90,565.

The ZR1 with PDE ZR1 High Performance-Package comes to $114,070. Still a difference of almost $24,000.

According to the R&T article their Z06 cost $101,760 and their ZR1 cost $129,945. Pretty much what I said in my original post.

Which was $6500 less than what you claimed in your original post. Not exactly an insignificant difference.

The Z06 is definitely a better performance bang for buck Corvette, but that doesn't make it a better bang for buck car. Just adding those 2 packages onto a Z06 doesn't make it a ZR1.

Seriously, you need to learn how to read.

Get back to me when you're optioning out $100,000 sports cars how significant $24,000 is.
