....got my two 256mb sticks of Corsair XMS3000 today :D

ill be testing stick #1 today, stick #2 tomorrow, and then both sticks to see how they do as a pair.

these sticks should run better then 512mb sticks cause they only have half the memory chips right? ~ we'll see ;)

Hey Thugs,
I just finished testing @ 2.7V (two XMS3500 512mb sticks) and passed Memtest with CAS 2-2-2-7 at up to 145fsb:386ddr!

kewl

a couple things ive learned so far from all this....

*2.7v will eventually fail from heat (on p4b533 boards)
*512mb sticks suffer from heat and need to be tested for X hours (at least 5)
*256mb sticks have half the chips, arent as hot, and dont fail @ X hours from heat
*memtest86 aint perfect ;) (it doesnt heat the ram)

Very interesting. It sounds like 2.7V is mostly bragging rights... so I'm going back to testing more 2.6V settings :(

no no no dont take my word for it ~ run a few tests...

do your 2.7v speed for 5 hours ~ even if it passes, test some memory intensive apps.
or just plain watch a full screen divx movie ;)
itll be be very "heat sensative" at some point and lockup.

hell, just raise your room temp a few degrees and youll see what i mean :Q ;)

Nah, I believe you :) I will run scientific simulations on this PC, and I don't want any funny bits anywhere.

Back on earth (@2.6V) I have just passed MemTest @ cas2337, 144fsb:384ddr. Even at 145fsb, it gives me a couple errors at 65%. So I have to choose between 2.45ghz/cas2337 versus 2.50ghz/cas2.5337... can't wait for GB...

EDIT: I just tested my mini-benchmark, and cas2337 offered no advantage over 2.5-337... I guess I'm just going back to 2.5ghz and 2.5-3-3-7.

try messing with the SDram Idle Timer~
0 slows the ram a bit
64 is best performance
any setting is more stable then "infinite"

HTH :)

I tried 64, and I couldn't detect a performance difference with my program. However, if it's more stable than Infinite, I'll switch to it anyway. Thanks for the advice!

I'm successfully running 2 x 512MB sticks of Corsair XMS3200c2 at DDR400, CL2.5-3-3-7, using 2.7V. This voltage didn't give me any trouble during my Memtest86 test. I ran for over 18hrs at this voltage with zero errors. Temps were in low to mid 80F range during this test. This was in late September in Sunny SoCal with no AC.
