It is almost getting to the point to where the 2x512MB sticks are more expensive than single 1GB sticks. I purchased 1x1GB PC3200 Corsair at Fry's a while back for $69. Put 2 of those in my Athlon FX-55 system and had ZERO problems. Looks like a new trend. :D

With current prices, 2x 1GB is really the way to go. 512MB stick will be difficult to sell off in a couple of months.

What you're starting to see here is lower supply of DDR. Both AMD and Intel platforms utilize DDR2 now so the manufacturers are transitioning their production to DDR2. If you've noticed, the DDR2 prices for similar memory are in the $65-$70 per 512MB stick range.

$102.90!!! This make those after rebate deals at CC, Staples and Office Max look good!!! Are the 2x1GB prices any better?

Getting older = making less of it = price increase.

Well, if it is getting older and they are making less of it, is there some other memory that has similar price/value numbers? Should we redirect our thrifty dollars in a new direction?

Surprized to see this thread still alive after all the price increases and the shift to DDR2. I updated it for those poor souls that feel like tossing their money away on old technology. Personally, I think you're better off buying a new mobo and DDR2 because DDR1 module prices will just keep rising. Anyone priced low-density PC133 lately? It's INSANE! I suspect we'll see the same thing happen to DDR1.

OP Updated! :)

HAHAHAHAHA....sure is, but that's really old ram. I paid $300 for an 8MB SIMM years ago, and that was cheap at the time, lol.

Once I paid $400 for 4MB - 16 individual chips to install... Yeah, the bad old days.
