Crazy stupid, isn't it? That's why I've somewhat given up on this thread....not so exciting anymore.

All I can say is Monarch must be INSANE! The prices are WAY over-inflated today! $195 for a gig of value ram? That bought THREE sets of this ram just six months ago!

why are the prices going up? i got a gig (2x512) of DDR400 value RAM last year for $40... granted, that involved ~$20 in rebates, but since when do prices of this kind of technology go up?

Who would of ever thunk it? This thread is turning out very interesting. Freaking crazy prices here. I was in the market for at least a gig of ddr400 but not anymore. I`ll just buy it used off the forums or live with sharing 2 gigs of ram between two computers.

I bought my corsair 1gb set over a year ago for $80, looks like I'll be turning a profit almost 2 years later!

I just got a OCZ Platinum 2gb 2-3-2-5 kit for $175 shipped, and the newegg price jumped to $260!!!

Whats up with the price hikes? Did they stop making DDR1?

DDR2 prices are just as crazy, so it's not just DDR1.

I was paying $169 for a 2GB kit of OCZ Value DDR2-667 less than 10 days ago. Today the same retail pack is $249 at ZZF.

Ealier this year, I was paying as low as $65 per 1GB kit of Corsair DDR2-533, and now I can't find a 2GB kit for less than $200.

Just freakin' unbelievable. As a system builder/seller, this really pisses me off.

could this be related to the RAMBUS lawsuits and makers having to pay insane damaged?

I seriously doubt that, it's due to supply and demand. Mfg's cut way back on production of DDR because of over-inventory and market saturation, so the price goes up. Also, it's the "back to school" season, prices always seem to go up around this time and the holiday season is coming up fast. They can maintain the high price because of the holidays. Also need to consider the adoption of DDR2 now with Intel and AMD moving to it full bore (with conroe and AM2).

HAHAHAHA.....I had the exact same issue. I'm getting ready to build a Conroe system, but my plans are on hold, no way I'm paying these prices even for 2 gigs....not when March comes around and the prices are back to half what they are! :|

At least my G.Skills, 2-3-2-5 (2x1GB) will hold their value so I can snap up some DDR2. I can't even find those DDR G.Skills for sale anywhere.......

why buy Corsair Value RAM when you can get Corsair XMS 3200 (5-2-2-2) at similar prices at NE? Last week 512 mb of XMS was available at $62 (free shipping) and the Pro version was $3 more (shipping is now %5). I got 2 sticks of the XMS3200 and one of them was actually XMS4400C25.

I just ordered some Patriot 2x512 XBLK (TCCD) from Zipzoomfly for around $140. That's one of the better deals left right now, considering it's rated at 2-2-2-5 PC3200, 3-4-4-8 @ DDR533 (although most reviews have done that w/ CAS 2.5)
