I think it's not just the DDR markets that's rising, HDs too. Maybe it's because holiday season is coming up and they are trying to take advantage of people who doesn't keep track of current technologies and prices?

They're getting ready to screw everyone who buys a granite bay IMO. They know they're going to have a monopoly on ram as soon as rambus gets defeated by granite bay.

The West Coast Longshoremans Dock strike may have an influence on this too, as nothing moved for 10 days - and a lot of the NewEgg prices went up by about 5%.
Even though the strike is 'supposed' to be over, unloading and shipping is going to be behind until after Christmas, as they aren't really bustin' ass to catch up with the backlog. Funny thing - they want to do all the work by people with clip boards, and are making a statement about COMPUTERS taking away jobs.

Cool maybe we should offload our corsair pc3000 and pc3200 sticks of ram and take the good money and buy (2)pc2700 chips since that is likely the best we will be able to do on a Granite Bay Dual ddr mobo if the reports of only 1:1 ratios materialise. That is unless you get sizeably over 166fsb on you current p4's!!!;)

You know I am watching yourlead and if you get a kick-ass c1 chip I am there man.... Maybe I should sell my 512mb pc3000 chip and get 2 256mb sticks myself...1gb is really overkill for me even as a cadd user. I watch the numebrs of available ram and I rarely go below 200mb free with loads of crap running.

I will have to investigate the memory thing. GB should debut NOv 14th with the P4 3.06ghz, right???

I bought this from newegg about 3 weeks ago. CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 32MX8 PC-3200C2 With Heat Spreader for $187.77. Currently it's $190.00. So yes it did go up but not that much percentage wise.

Memory chip prices jumped up unexpectedly last week; these price increases are being passed on very quickly to retail sales. They may or may not stick, depending on demand and on availability. Notice also that prices of "in demand" hard drives and even CPUs increased a few bucks last week, too. What the market will bear is only known by trying out the market.

i doubt this has much to do with the prices as "worldwide " is handling the overflow and "madison" and a few others are also on the job;)

Except for the price of actual memory chips, how would the longshoreman's strike have affected the supply of Corsair DIMMs? Corsair = "Made in USA":D

I've been leaning towards the exact same system Thugs ~ 2 sticks of Corsiar MXS PC3000 Cas 2, P4 2.26, as Duvie said earlier, seems like that should be the sweet spot, 17 FSB, gives a good chance of of hitting 166, I'll probly be getting the G8X, unless the EPoX board is drastically lower.
