The fact that you insist I am against civil rights despite what I've said says you do have a persecution complex. There's not much I put a higher value on than people's rights. But don't expect pissing people off or gaining privilege at other's expense just because you are black, gay, whatever won't piss people off and work against any goal of true equality.

Your contention is that those who are disenfranchised need to watch their tone. I cannot disagree with this enough. This blog post describes my feelings better than I can myself: Text

For clarification: social justice is not about putting some people (in your example, blacks and gays) above others. It is not about giving privilege, but eradicating it. This is why it is very offensive for you, a privileged body, to tell me that you would agree with me...but I'm too angry, I'm too much of an activist. For some reason, you feel that my rights in society are dictated by how much you like me, by how nice I am to you. You assume that I care about how my anger makes you resent me, like your resentment is so important. It is simply narcissistic to assume that the goal of civil rights is to make you feel good, or even that your support of it should be predicated on your opinion of me.

You have demonstrated two things consistently in this thread:

1. You don't want equality, you want the privilege that the straight white man has historically had given to everybody else. And since privilege comes at the expense of another, you think it's the white man's turn for a while to even things out.

2. You fail to see I'm continually stating that I support your rights despite any personal opinion I may or may not have towards you personally. All you see is the "straight white guy," angry and resentful that those "negroes and queers are being all uppity." Like I said before, persecution complex.

You yourself support the free market's right to keep blacks in poverty

I don't support any such thing. OTOH, you seem to keep looking for crutches to support how you believe it is out there. Maybe how it is is really between your own ears. Ever consider that? If you and a white guy came to me, as an employer, and you were both looking for a job, the color of each of you would be the last thing I would consider. I would look first and foremost at your qualifications to do the job you were applying for, as well as your professional appearance. Two guys come dressed for the job they are applying for and a decision will be made on whether you rate the job, not your race. :)

I don't know about justice, but employers aren't blind, cops aren't blind, teachers aren't blind, etc.

Why do you insist on pretending that racism (and sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism) does not exist? You are not fooling anyone but yourself.

Right after we eliminate AA we can eliminate the victim mentality. That would pretty much end it all right there.

Wouldn't the victim mentality end when the victimization ends?

The beginning of the end of the victimization

So, that was in 1865, when slavery began to get abolished. By the late 1960's we have equal civil rights. We are now 40 years down the road. Victimization has ended. It will still exist only to those who won't let it go.

I agree. I personally could give a rat's ass what color anybody is. I've met cool people of every culture, and jerks from every culture. I look at people as individual people, not sub-groups.

One way would be to transfer wealth so that nearly all blacks are the wealthiest people in he nation. The new Bill Gates, the new Walton family, the new Warren Buffet, all black.

Drive to the nice gated community, look to the CEOs, the owners of businesses, you see mostly black faces. Filling the ghettos, mopping the floors, are whites.

People's tendency to worship the wealthy would lead them to think well of blacks.

Yeah, redistribution of wealth worked out really swell for Zimbabwe.......certainly a cure-all for all their ills.

Silly liberals.

What evidence do you have to my repeated demonstration of not wanting equality? I have repeatedly stated that I am for equality, not black or gay supremacy. Sure, equality means that white men do not have a monopoly on power. I understand that many white men are fearful of this loss-of-privilege. I admit to having little sympathy for these men. Still, I am absolutely against any programs or legislation that place white men at a systemic disadvantage. I just do not think that any such programs or legislation exist.

Please show what I have written that contradicts these claims.

Yeah, redistribution of wealth worked out really swell for most of the countries in Western Europe and nearly every industrialized nation on the face of the planet!

You don't think you're racist. That's great. But this isn't about you. This is about the discrimination that people of color face every time they apply for a job or are looking for a promotion.

Narcissism isn't cool.

EDIT: some people don't like my use of "every time," which is a legitimate complaint because I mis-typed. I admitted that compuwiz may not be racist, which is inconsistent with my claim that POC face discrimination in all employment decisions. Therefore, let me rephrase my statement as "This is about the discrimination that people of color frequently face when they apply for a job or are looking for a promotion."

And that has been a federal crime since the civil rights act, which apparently you haven't even read. If it happens as much as you say it does, then file a case. The only people that keep racism alive are people who think like you do, constantly holding yourself and culture down.

I ask you to listen to your black leaders and stop this mentality. Live the dream, learn from Dr. King and listen, then live it. Because it's a live and well today.

Fixed. I clicked on some links and there are always lots of people who write things that make things look bad, but in the end the truth is in the eye of the beholder. Again, seek and ye shall find. You are looking for excuses and looking for things to support your distorted paradigm.

They don't take into account victim mentality so they are meaningless to me. That's the difference between "I can" and "I can't".

Perhaps you'd like to enlighten me as to which country in Europe confiscated the wealth of the richest and gave it to the poorest making the poorest the wealthiest in said country. We'll work on a few other details when you give up the answer. This outta be fun!

The studies have nothing to do with any mentality, considering they involve fake people with identical resumes, but different names.

You can't stop racism. It's apart of this world, and it always will be. You can go back to India 1500 BCE and see there's racism. As long as there aren't tremendously harsh penalties, it'll always be around.

There was also theft, rape, murder and torture in India in 1500 BCE. Crime will always exist. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do our best to prevent crime, punish criminals and end racism.
