As late as the year before, his biographer Edmund Morris reported, Reagan was still strong enough to rake leaves from the family pool, but even that basic chore had become tinged with sadness.

''He will rake leaves for hours, not realizing that they are being surreptitiously replenished by his Secret Service men,'' Morris wrote.

And you find this humorous, why?

Have you ever lived with someone suffering with Alzheimers?

You need to retune your violin, it's a little flat.

corpee...me and you are going to butt heads on this one.

I greatly admire everything that Reagan did for the world, and dont that this is the time to poke fun at him. Besides that, my aunt died of Alzheimers. She was one of my favorite aunts. By the end, she had no clue who I was. She went from being a strong woman to basically an invalid.

Please show some respect.

Alzheimer's claimed my grandmother too. Kept asking me when I was graduating HS and things like that...I had graduated 8 years before. Wierd thing is she could remember things that had happened 50 years ago like they were yesterday though.

How am I making fun of him? I'm stating that it's somewhat twisted and hilarious that secret service men would continually place leaves down for him to rake.. I don't see why everyone has a hardon for the Ronald Reagan bandwagon and why people have no sense of humor anymore.

My last remaining Grandparent, my Grandmother, has Alzheimer's. Anyone that thinks it is funny needs their ass kicked.

You're being an asshole. I to have had family members die of cancer, heart disease, etc....but Alzheimers is incredibly cruel. Especially in it's early stages when the person with it knows there is something wrong with them but can't help to do anything about it.

Stop being a dick and try to be human. Ok?

Again, your story has no relevance in this thread and frankly nobody likes a martyr. I wasn't making fun of the disease, did people read this thread?

If you understood Alzheimers you would know why the Secret Service agents would do that. Maybe then you wouldn't be laughing at such an unfortunate circumstance. Maybe not....hell you wanna take a trip to see my Grandmother and laugh at her because she likes to sit on her porch and feed the ducks even though there aren't any ducks around?

For now you can just kiss my ass.

I did. Both my grandparents died of it. I watched them struggle and die. You know what? We all found dark humor in it. Lay off CorpRec about it. The only way for us to cope was to make light of it all. Alzheimer's is so absurd that you can't help but make an absurd situation less dark. Did you hold both of your grandparent's hands when they died of Alzheimers? They didn't even know who I was for 10 years. They called me "Charlie" which was their grown son.

Come kick my ass then. My family had no choice but to turn the situation into something more light-hearted. Perhaps you just haven't gotten it yet. You'll see.
