I still don't understand why the E6400 and E6420 and the E6300 and E6320 will be the same price?

Why would someone buy the E6400 and not the E6420 if they cost the same?

John

Obviously they won't cost the same. The E6300/E6400s will start to drop in price and eventually will stop being produced.

It didn't seem obvious from the lead post. In other words when the xx20 are released in April both the E6400/6300 will cost the same as the E6420/E6320 but will immediately start dropping in price?

John

Who knows. That's why it's not specified in the topic post. I can't predict the future! Good grief lol 😛

They will basically follow the exact same pricing scheme as the E6600 now, so $224 I believe.

Officially there will be no difference in price between the E6320 and E6300 as well as the E64xx. But given that the E6300/E6400 expect e-tailers to start dropping them in price as per market demands.

It'll be tempting to take the $500 system upgrade path in a couple weeks:

MSi P6N-SLI Platinum ~165
E6420 ~185
2GB Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 or similar ~$165

Considering my current rig it would be quite the boost. 🙂

AMD just has to have a $266 Quad core processor for Q3 if it's to compete and hit a sweet spot in the mainstram market. It's quite obvious that if they don't, it will hurt their financial prowess significantly.

nice list. great way to make me save money until august for the e6750. wondering though could note what was updated when you do updates?

title says updated 4/14, but today is only the 13th. last few updates I couldn't figure what changed, look nearly identical.

April Fools Day was changed to the 13th. 🙂

oops sorry, it should have said 4/12 for the last update. typo.
as for what changed, i revised some wording and fixed times for the E series from April to June release (writing "April" was just my copy/paste error not a change in expected release date).

It's really unfortunate that the second price drop for Q6600 is until August...I'm traveling to the states in June and I'll pick the parts for a new computer up.

I'm really tempted to bite the bullet and get the Q6600 come June...even if I have to pay double for it. For me it's now or never; it will probably be some years 'till I get to go to the states again. And where I live computer hardware is insanely expensive. Even at $560, it's much cheaper than I'll ever be able to buy it in down here.

why don't you just have a trusted friend or family member buy it for you and ship it to you in MX? i have friends who do this all the time. and 'no', i'm not volunteering. besides...who knows what airport security will do the pins apon inspection.

looking to due an upgrade next week, which CPU should I go with E6600 for 224 0r jump to the E6700 for 316? It appears the E6700 price cut will be 2X that of the E6600 80 vs 190. I will be pairing it with the Gigabyte MOBO P365 I beleive.

imho, Why spend close to $100 more for the E6700 when its only a little faster and you should be able to easily hit that speed with the E6600?

I'm looking at the QX6850 in Q4 of this year. I think I've waited long enough to replace my Athlon XP 2600+ mobile processor. 🙁

I purchased the following MB / Memory combo (maybe this will help):

ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus

Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC22G6400LLK
