Not sure. Maybe he is just lonely:biggrin:.

Maybe by creating this "I'm from Intel" persona, he thinks people will engage more fully in his posts. But the reality is, if one has a valid question and/or any true knowledge to share, these forums can allow you to engage quite easily.

If this guy had a deeper knowledge perhaps he could pass off as a real Intel guy, but at this point his value-add to the discussion is neutral to negative.

Hey, I can quote Intel documents and post links to Intel sites and pass myself as an Intel employee too. Since everything he says can be googled in under 3 minutes, I call fake.

A quote from the above thread from our guy:

"Thank you for the welcome. I am a customer service person in that I have been with the reseller and end user presales team. So I have been advising people on what components they need for their desktop and server builds for almost 8 years now. I have “A+” training, Windows training and even a small amount of programming training all done on my own. On top of that I have years of training on Intel products, so while there will be people on this board that will have more hands on experience on computer repair and more software knowledge then me, I think you will find my overall knowledge level on Intel® products should outstanding."

He also mentions that he used to play Ultima......

So if that is in fact true, then he would have no knowledge of anything not made public anyways. It would be like asking the HR person at Intel what uarch changes IB will have. They would have no clue.

The enthusiast is missing from the "Intel Enthusiast Team". It amazes me when companies do this. It's as if we're totally clueless.

He's real (has a valid Intel email). I am apologizing for my comments about him, as they were rather harsh.

PreferLinux, Thank you for your help on getting this cleared up.
The Intel® Enthusiast Team is a new project by Intel to deal directly in the enthusiast, DIY, and gamers in social media context in this case on forums. I have been worked with Intel for almost 8 years now on the reseller support and presales group. I am a customer service person; I am not in technical support or public relations. While I have taken “A+” training and even some programming I don’t have the same hands on experience that many of you may have. I am not an overclocker so my knowledge and experience on this is going to be limited. So why am I here? The answer is simple I am here to help with some questions if I can, I may have knowledge of some tools that Intel has put together that you may not have that I can share with you. I can also carry information back from you to Intel. I could spend years trying to get some of the knowledge that people on the board have and still not come close. So let’s see what we can do to help each other out.

Off topic, and I have no idea when it changed, but the new Intel website is very good. Some of the graphics could be cleaned up, but the comparison charts are fantastic.

Welcome! It's about time companies started doing this. I have one question that I've been wondering about...

What does a company like Intel gain from people overclocking their chips? For years Intel (and AMD too) have done a lot to thwart overclockering of budget chips, but they finally seem to have given in with the K series chips. I can't imagine that there's enough people who overclock to make it a worthwhile endeavor for Intel to go out of their way to either inhibit it or allow it. I'm guessing that Intel make most of their money from the DELL's, Lenovo's and Toshiba's of this world, so do home system builders really make a difference to Intel's bottom line? WHy do they even care what we do with their chips? Maybe they don't, and maybe they hire people just like ourselves who do??

(Notice the overclocked Q6600 below... Ahem!)

Hi Chris and welcome to Anandtech. :)

Do you know if market segmentation is employed in the VR12 specification such that the unlocked 'k' series might present themselves as locked.

For instance if the VRM design reported itself to the CPU as not supporting enough power for the unlocked Sandy processors then are the Sandy 'k' processors intelligent enough to just inhibit multiplier overclocking rather than refusing to boot?

Welcome to the forums...

On another note, and on topic, I just want to whine about my SB motherboard (I know I will be RMA'ing it when the fixed one come out). I do F@H. Due to the sata bug, it couldn't create data files, and before I figured it out, I had lost 210,000 points, and one whole week of 24/7 cpu usage for nothing. So this is not one of the 5-15% that over 3 years degraded, but one month later, flat out failed. I live almost next to the Aloha Intel campus. If you are close, and want to bring me a new motherboard early, that would make me happy :)

Let me just say this you like a lot of the people in this industry are taking a short term look at the value of the enthusiast space. While the enthusiast may not directly buy a large percentage product they do have a large impact on others buying habits. Every couple weeks someone in my extended family is calling me asking what they should get in their new desktop or laptop. I am sure each of you has had these same calls.
As far as the enthusiast space and the “K” processors, let me ask you a simple question; is clock speed the only important thing on processors today? We all know the answer is no. Cores, bus, cache are all important and in some cases today cores can be more important than clock speed.

Q4 is too far away. I am ready for an upgrade to 2011 right now. :<

And no offense, IntelEnthusiast, but could you please proof read your posts and add commas where appropriate and correct spelling mistakes?

Guys,
I have some good news for all of you due to the hard work of a number of people in Intel®; a number of “6” boards will be able sooner than expected. You can expect to see a number of Intel P67 and H67 series boards available by Mid-March. I expect a number of other board makers to have their boards in stock in short order to.

Also important to know that Intel will be changing the Part # to show a B3 on the end to show that it has the new B3 stepping. For example you will see a BOXDP67BGB3 or a BOXDH67CLB3.
