Amd's crap tho.![]()
I am guessing tha the i5-650 would fall somewhere between this chip and an i5-750?
If so, the i5-650 would be the fastest dual-core currently, or am I wrong?
My only observation is that the I3@$150+$200 mobo (Isn't that the prices of what you used?) is $350 total (approx) and the 965 is $200+$80 motherboard and still beats it big time. Based on $/performance, the 965 clearly is a winner in this scenario.
Have we see gaming benchmarks of Core i3 (Overclocked) vs Phenom II x4 (Overclocked) yet?
P.S. P55 mainboards can be had for less than $200. (Not to mention the Fry's/microcenter deals floating around.)
Yes, but the 4.8 ghz OC of Hey Zues requires a $250 for 300 mobo. You can get a 3.8 out of a 965 on a $80 mobo (I did)
As for the overclocked benches, we will see, but I bet they are very close.
Not true mark. There was a review of a 99 dollar H55 board that the reviewer hit 4.6Ghz quite easily on. The clarkdale is as easy to overclock as the Bloomfield's

Not to mention Core i3 is $99.99 at Microcenter.
I guess Intel wants to push this CPU instead of Core i5 750 (which got bumped to $189.99 at MC- in store pick up only)
Hear,hear! Cores for everybody.

First, note the thread title. Yes we all know its dual-core WITH HT, vs quad.Guys - Zeus is OCing a dual-core, not a quad-core. He could probably use any sub $99 P55 board (i.e. anything with 4+2 phases) and get just as good an OC.
So while I don't like the jacked price of the 750, Intel made a good strategic move. Pay $99+$99 for a Nehalem dual-core with HT, or pay the extra $90 and get a true quad-core. Either way you're still under $300.
And checking both MC and ZZF, the 720BE price was increased to $119. Odd how this was timed when the $149 750 deal when extinct. Really feel sorry for guys who missed out on it.
Since I got the prices from newegg, and the benchmarks from this thread (that no one has argued) how do you get this ?
I don't take kindly to comments like this that have no foundation.
He has an I3 540, not a 530. And until I see the same OC on a $100 mobo, I do not need to believe it. I know it makes a BIG different in C2D>C2Q on a cheap mobo, and HT can be very demanding. An i3-530 would preform nearly as well with a $100 mobo than with the $200, thus, in the end, making it a better deal. Furthermore, the 530 is $125, not 150.
Giving you a total of $225.
I know.... Some people think that a 530 will OC like a 540 (maybe) and a $200 mobo will OC like $100 (rarely)I didn't buy this board just for a Clarkdale. I bought this board for a nice 32nm Quad and Sandy Bridge

Your comment before speaks volumes...Why else would you get a good board, instead of a cheap one. I think we are both saying the same thing.Mark,
When i get paid i'll pick up an uber cheap 1156 board to test![]()
