Core 2 Duo e5200 - does it exist?

Core 2 Duo has 3mb cache or more. The names are different so the average Joe (the Plumber 😉 ) will spend extra to get a "Core Duo" chip.

Except the early core 2 duos that had only 2MB of cache. (well, 4MB, but 2MB was disabled)
I originally had an e6300 and upgraded to an e5200.
e6300 was 2MB cache and 1.86ghz, e5200 started at like 2.5Ghz and has 2MB cache, but I overclocked the e5200 to 3.33ghz and the e6300 struggled to 2.6Ghz.

Also, the older 65nm core 2 duos had a performance degradation going to 64 bit, which the 45nm ones don't have.

I have a E5200 with a XFX 680I LT MOBO and i got it to 3.45Ghz with a FSB of 1200mhz

That's rather unfortunate for you. I have a E6300 and a E6320, both can do 2.8GHz stable. I haven't actually found the max OC for both, but I know my E6320 can also do roughly 3 GHz stable (might be around max, unless I continue to push voltage past 1.4V)

I've done some research on finding what OC other people got. It's insane to find quite a number of people can do 3.2 - 3.5GHz with their E6300/6320.


A friend of mine also has the E5200. He had a lot of trouble OCing though, because of his mobo's memory divider.
