I think a lot of our society's issues, we only look at the symptoms. The underlying issue of the American society is the emptiness inside. Which results in a lot of things we see all around us - and we just look to blame this, that, this group, etc and so on. The problem is somewhere else, much deeper.

So assuming the above is true, in your opinion, how exactly do we fix the problem of police brutality up to and including killing unarmed and innocent people?

By reducing the emotional violence in our lives, which is in many ways worse than physical violence.

See, this is the part #BLM don't get. Police will !@#$ over everyone. Don't matter what race you are.
A united effort for police reform would have much greater reach, and helps everyone in the end.

Hell, maybe Congress should setup a committee for police reform. Hear testimony and bring forth others to discuss plans / policy for resolution. With a goal to diffuse tension, not escalate.

A republican controlled Congress? Never in a million years.

Uh, I believe the cops will shit all over just about anyone...but as a white dude I have no illusions that the shit falls down equally.

Ask a black friend how many times they've been pulled over...for driving. I've been pulled over 4-5 times in 35 driving years and every time I was speeding and will admit it. Out of those times I received 1 ticket. (edit: forgot a time or two, and how old I was!)

A movement to fix it has to appeal to everyone, equal or not. If one group beats their chest and says it's about them - then it'll fail to be about us fixing the problem together. When it comes to motivating people to fix something, inclusion is the solution.

And only fucking morons think BLM isn't inclusive.

Ok now you're just setting him up for the good old "I'm not racist! I have many black friends!" routine.

But, I'm sure Jaskalas has many black friends that he can ask that.

They will !@#$ over everyone but they !@#$ over black people deeper/harder/with lower quality lube. Check out the ratio of blacks vs whites in prison for drug usage and compare that to the actual drug usage rates of blacks vs whites. It is statistically significant. They clearly enforce laws against blacks at a higher rate.

Release the balloons, you found your one. Now get back to me when you get 20 more consecutive incidents before one black person being shit on for no reason and then we can talk.
