Page says it all.

A really good cooler for the money, very universal and can be modded to use 120mm fans. I had one myself and was very cool and quiet for the money. I paid $20 for a used one haha.

SVC rebates have never failed me.

Apologies if this is a repost.

I paid $20 after rebate for one at NewEgg right when it came out...and I haven't even used it yet.

Reviews?
I meant, it's a great price, but how does it perform? (I know...who cares for $2!)

Thanks for the review link.
Does the fact that there's no mounting from underneath the motherboard make a difference? I mean, it does as far as ease of installation, but i'm concerned with it being mounted on a motherboard that's mounted in a mid-tower case...might it fall off from the weight?

Here is my review at Newegg...

Pros: The after rebate price is amazing. SV< has it for a dollar ninty nine w/ rebate. I'm not sure what others are doing, but it mounted super easy and secure on my IP35-E.

Cons: Only lowered my e2140 (@3.2ghz !!!) by 6-8 degrees C. But again, great price!

curious what you were expecting it to drop by... 6-8C is A LOT.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Some people pay 4x more for a HSF and end up with the same 6-8C drop.

Installed that cooler 3 days ago... The temperature of my Opteron 165 @ 2.6GHz is EXACTLY the same as it was with my old and dusty stock cooler :(

Morro, is it any quieter? Also, did your Opteron 165 come with one of the heatpipe coolers? Those (especially the quad heatpipe unit with 80x20mm fan) are really good for a stock cooler - probably the best I've seen.

Well, I was a little off on that one. It is more like 4-6C drop I'm seeing. I do admit, that is not bad either. Other coolers can do better though. Of coarse you do have to factor in price and ease of mounting. I did give 4/5 eggs :).

This is on a dual core e2140 (small cache, cool running). I have another TX2 arriving today for my Quad-core. I think the temp drop will be even smaller on the Quad. I know there are some better coolers out there, they just cost more.

Performance 4/5 eggs
Price/Performance 5/5 eggs

These are just my opinions of coarse .

Any one know how this would compare to my zalman 7700 AlCu? Would it be worth it to upgrade to the TX2?

Ya, it was advertised as a "weekend sale". It was still $1.99 at 11am EST when I posted though.

EDIT: I'll bet the $1.99 sale will be back before the rebate expires on 9/31.

My only beef with this is I jumped on this right away so now I have to endure all of the subsequent threads (or bumps) on this deal since you only get one rebate for September (as I'd love to get more of these).

13 days and counting.....

jj - I was referring to the one at SVC.com, as it says limit 1. I do now see the Newegg which says limit 3 - thanks for the heads up. One thing - it appears the Newegg promo code only gives you $14 off of 1, so you can't order 2-3 in one order from NE and get $14 off of each one. :(

rbk - ya, I knew you were talking about the SVC deal. Just wanted to point out this one was limit 3. Can you do 3 seperate orders at Newegg and re-use the code??

Good question/good idea - not sure. What worries me about that is the rebate reads that you can only submit a single receipt (or so it seems based on the wording).
