How much are these mini helicopters going for ? I wanted to buy a heli for a wihle now. the big ones are at around $600 but i know they can do a hell-a-lot things. Are these babies manuverable ? and where would you recommend i buy one ;-)

I WISH I had the money for this. I recently had someone run over my pride nitro R/C car and just continue driving. I watched and was sad.

R/C cars are fun, I recommend it as a hobby.
 
I hear the cool mini racer to get is are the Epochs. A complete full on R/C car that fits in the palm of your hand. It's about 4 inches long. Suspension, proportional et al.

A mini Helicopter will run about $400/$500 for a basic ready to fly setup. The basic kits are generally about $200. Then you have to buy servos, electronics, gyros, etc. The $400/$500 will get you everything you need in one kit. There's also aftermarket parts. A lot of these are just done by other hobbiest. Carbon fiber blades, aluminum (instead of plastic) hubs and collective pitch kits. If you deck out one of these, I can't think of what it can't do that a full size could. Of course you would be hard pressed to do loops in your living room. A lot of people go to fly days at school gyms. Check here for info. It's a all around good forum. There are of course the model specific ones. If this is your first copter, why not save some money and get a used one. Your going to be crashing a lot learning how to fly. I got my piccolo for $200 with everything including a whole bunch of batteries and a bunch of spare parts. These things are actually quite "sturdy". You can pretty much fix anything with super glue and be flying 15 minutes later. The bigger choppers will be easier to fly, but if you crash it's going to hurt. There's also nothing like going for a flight around the house during a commercial on TV.

Oh yeah, save some wear and tear while learning how to fly by using a simulator first. You hook up your radio to it. While not as good as the real thing, it does help. A good free one is called FMS.

The Digi-Q cars are far harder to control b/c instead of steering front wheels they have a system that proportions the power to each drive wheel. There are two-speed Bit Char-G as well. You have to buy the 4 channel controller and the appropriate "Booster Machine Set" and you will have a 2 speed setup. The odd thing is, the larger multi-channel controller sucks range wise compared to the "regular" controller.

A friend of mine asked me to order some of the knockoffs from toyeast for his cousins and he said they're identical to the Tomy ones aside from the controller. As far as he could tell, the Tomy parts could easily be swapped in. They are as the website says, an "OEM" version.
 
These sound pretty sweet and I think I'm going to get me a couple. I was just curious if anyone has dealt with ToyEast and if they're a reputable company? Also, is that the best place to get them or are there other suggestions as to where I can get some of these cars. Finally, for those who've gotten some, how are the quality of the Tomy's as compared to the OEM Bullets?

I've had ~$200+ in purchases from Toyeast between myself and my father's co-workers on bits alone. No complaints, they even send little toys/stickers with the orders in my experience.

I've also bought from stella on ebay, no complaints either.
 
I was wondering the same thing as a co-worker & I want to get some, but obviously looking for the best deal available. Any difference in quality btw the OEMs & the Tomy/Tomica Bit Char-G's from ToyEast?
 
On toyeast.com, they have the tomy oem regular kits that are on sale for $9.00. Are these for sale to regular customers or do you have to order like 1 million of them? Also, are they just as good as the $30+ kits?

My friend has one with a 3.0 motor and it's hecka fun. 🙂
 
Bump to see if anyone has had experience with the OEM Bullets from ToyEast. How do these compare to the regular Tomy Bit Char-G cars??

I need psychiatric help I just spent 8 hours over the past two days researchhing this new hobby, and last night I finally broke down and ordered. I hate Anandtech, too bad they don't have a patch or gum.
 
Notice there are now OEM DigiQ's on Toys East's site for $15. I think I must have one. Anybody tried the OEM DigiQs?

I also wonder if the regular DigiQ Propo controller or IR booster works with the OEMs? I'd say yes for at least the controller, but I'm not sure.
 
Well, I wasn't even looking for one of these until I read this thread. Stupid Anandtech.

I spent about 2 hours researching all the types, and I ended up ordering a Digi-Q from Sigma Automotive for $49. It's an Audi TT. I like the concept of proportional steering and acceleration in a 1 inch RC car. Too f'in cool.

I think my 2 kittens are going to appreciate their new toy.

I hear the OEM Digi Q's are slow compared to the real ones. Digi Qs are wicked fast. I run it in my 20x14 living room and I wished I had more space to bring it up to speed. Doing 4 wheel drifts is so much fun. Of course you can run it slow and do the table top thing.

I jsut got in on this deal. if yoe look at the info about the OEM product, both the stats say its 100% new, so its gotta be same as the other ones.
 
Dangit, now Im curious about these too. SHould I order one of the 9.90 Bullets from ToyEast (and are they relatively reputable?).

Now all we need are HOT DEALS on AA batteries for these mini marvels 😀
 
Bah, this forum is going to be the end of me. After 2 days of debating whether or not to get these, I bit. Ended up getting the "real" Tomy Bit Char-G Supra, one of the OEM bit McLarens, and an OEM Digi-Q CLK. What can I say... I'm a sucker for tech toys!
