The Islamic Religion is. I suggest you look at history for the past 50 years and do a tally of every attack carried out with the intention of harming someone to further an agenda. You'll see the Islamic religion accounts for probably 90% of the attacks, and those attacks are not limited to a specific geography. They've happened in France, England, USA, Australia, Asia...Virtually everywhere.
Violence plagues their society because of poor leadership within their religion.
Five hundred to a thousand years ago, Christians once ran the world killing others who were not like them, but their leadership eventually improved, which advanced their religion to it's intended roots of peace and acceptance.
Ever read about some of the Popes of the early 2nd millennium (year 1000 - 1300)? Some of them were beyond insane. One I believe even turned the Vatican (or whichever Catholic headquarters they used at the time) in a brothel.
But you don't see that anywhere now, only peaceful leadership, because they progressed well.
I really don't think the roots of their religion are of violence. There is a movement in the Middle East of "liberal Muslims" who take the teachings more metaphorically and focus on the good parts, as Christians do. They just need our encouragement. The quicker we help advance their religion closer to the level of progress other religions have achieved, the closer we will be to a more peaceful world.
