From what I can see from Youtube videos, the resynthesizer doesn't seem to work nearly as good as the video in the OP, but obviously they would be showing it at its best.

Either way that looks amazing. I never would have thought that would even be possible, but I know nothing about photoshop.

What am I missing? Nowhere in the video is it stated that this will be a feature in the next version of PhotoShop.

From the Youtube description it states "heres an early glimpse of what could happen in the future when you press the delete key."

At the beginning of the video the narrator says "today I would like to give you a sneak peak of just some of what we are working on in our labs, we haven't released this yet but we wanted to give you an idea of what we are up to".

So I guess we could assume that it is going to be in PhotoShop CS5 but why wouldn't they just say that? I have a feeling that this is something that will come later as an update.

Hopefully I am wrong, it looks like a cool feature for folks without retouching skills. ;)

I took a Photoshop seminar with Kelby Training and they said they were working with Adobe on the content aware fill option. The instructor said he couldn't say "CS5" because it's not officially named that yet and legally they can't say it. He said it would be in the next version of Photoshop, whatever it is called.

I've wondered for years why this feature was not available with Photoshop. Why did it take this long? Is this a computing power issue or did they only "invent" or discovery the algorithm recently? This is easily the biggest item on the Photoshop user's wishlist.

I'm wondering the same thing. It seems like such a logical function to have.

damn this is awesome. this is probably the main reason I'll ever use photoshop, besides contrast/brightness/colors.

damn we just got CS4 but that tool will be great for fixing artists work when making prints. Looks like we might be upgrading.

Wow, I hope they put some of these improvements into the next version of element. It would be perfect for hobbyists like me.

the last example made my jaw drop!! I create a lot of panoramas that come out misshapen like that, and I have to crop heavily to make a rectangular picture

I've been playing around with it in Gimp and I'm failing miserably. I must be retarded. :( I free select the object, hit smart object remove.. and it simply replaces that area with a completely dissimilar texture from elsewhere in the image. I dont know how I mess this up, but somehow I manage to. For example, I'll select a red ball in the green grass and try to smart remove and it'll paste in texture from the sky.

Haha, me too. This was my first try:

Turned into.......

Brilliant! :( I'll play around with it later..
