Chocolate chips do not belong in ice cream. Peanut butter ice cream is dumb, but chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirl is excellent. These are the facts of the matter.

Sounds to me like the pizza to sex comparison.
Really good pizza is very, very good. When the pizza is not-so-great, it's still pretty good.

I'd say Breyer's "dairy dessert" (AKA, frozen chalk cream) is an exception to that but its illegal to call that garbage in a box ice cream so it doesn't really count.

Most of those dairy desserts are awful, not just Breyer's

Sucks because at one point Breyers was among the best mass-produced ice cream .... these days Turkey Hill organic is about the best I've found for under $5 a pint.

My favorite flavor/brand currently Haagen-Daz rum-raisen ... the version sold in the stores not containers in supermarkets is vastly better.

This is perfectly acceptable:

Exactly. For cheap mass production it will more than do.

Hey at least its legally able to be called "cream" lol! :p

Much like Breyers USED to be there are artificial ingredients used but far as I'm aware only in the add-ins like crushed candy-bars.

The "Organic" (not sure what they brand it) I believe is actually 100% natural.

Breyer's Homemade Vanilla is pretty good for a big brand.

I used to pick up Turkey Hill ice cream (way too much), but it must have not been very popular in this region because most of the stores stopped carrying it and replaced it with a different brand.

I just looked to see what brand they brought in instead (I haven't bought any ice cream since they switched brands), and it is Tillamook. I've bought cheese from that brand before, but I've never seen their ice cream before.

Hopefully it's good for when the time comes. :p

Some flavors better than others.
The salted caramel gelato is good, and so are the salted caramel ice cream sandwiches.

Actually, the sandwiches are fucking great. I love those little bastards.

A lot of you guys here don't understand what massive tragedy i am talking about.

Haagen Dasz used to make a vanilla ice cream, that had these big swirls of salty peanut butter in it. Like, back in the 90s. Back waaaay before salted caramel was the biz. And HD knows how to make vanilla. The peanut butter just made the vanilla tastier.

On the other hand, B&J makes a ice cream called Netflix & Chilled which i had not 1 week ago and it's just depressing. Peanut Butter flavoured ice cream, which is normal english is EXTRA-DILUTED VAGUELY PEANUT FLAVOURED ice cream, with chunks of completely tasteless pretzels throw in. I don't know what made me buy it.

Oooh, but that HD ice cream was amazing ..

This was when i was in my 20s and a complete snob and i thought that Vanilla was the best ice cream, and anyone daring to suggest i even put sprinkles in it was a monster. B&J ice cream had just launched.
The idea that you could put PEANUT BUTTER of all things in an ice cream, barbaric !! And then i tasted it. Because seriously, HD *knows* how to make vanilla, and i figured, it should still be decent, and i can have a laugh later on when i tell my friends.

Now, some person that obviously hates fun decided to discontinue it, this was in the very early days of the internet so i can't even find any references to it. But Haagen Dasz Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl will always remain stuck in my brain, like a song you can't get rid of, as the greatest ice cream ever made. And i miss it.

If your ice cream has more than a handful of ingredients, you're doing it wrong.

Required
Cream
Milk
Sugar

Optional
Egg yolks (for custard style ice cream)
Flavoring(s)

B&Js has definitely declined in quality. Still good, but less good.

Someone dropped ice cream in our work parking lot in summer once. Not only did it never melt but not a single animal or insect touched it. It was just a blob that fell off a cone or something and stayed in that shape for weeks. I always had to avoid stepping it on my way out of the car. Must have been Breyers lol. It finally went away after a big rain storm. Makes me wonder what kind of ice cream places like McDonald's use, I don't imagine it's any better.

We did make ice cream in science class back in high school, and it was milk, sugar, liquid nitrogen and I think that's it... we did add chocolates and stuff in it after since it would be too plain otherwise.

Eating fat doesnt make you fat.
Eating sugar makes you fat.
And starch. Cuz starch breaks down into sugar.
