Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, but I just find the writing on that show leaves a little to be desired. A couple of times I actually found myself predicting lines before they were said.I took it as the actor/character knowing how cliched it was, but that it was true in that situation.

The show has so much potential otherwise. Indeed, I'm curious to see the change in dynamics for the police partnership in the next episode.
I see that you agree with my complaints. Weak acting and writing. Unfortunately, so far it seems one of the weakest actors is Rachel Nichols, even though I still do like her overall.Exactly, its a semi low budget random canadian show... I'm not watching for the writing or acting (both of which are... weak) but I love the story!
Well, I'm not sure I agree. The writing in some spots really falls down, but good writing doesn't necessarily have to be super expensive. eg. I think Corner Gas had better writing. Yeah, it's a totally different genre, and therefore takes a totally different type of writing, but nonetheless it was significantly better in a lot of ways. Unpredictable, yet flowed well. While I like the overarching story of Continuum, the basic dialogue of Continuum aims really low IMO, so much so that I found myself accurately predicting the next line from time to time.I think they do a great job with the resources they have.
Agreed. However, their time was cut short.I agree the reveal was stupid, but not for those reasons... More like, she has a whole bunch of gadgets that would be impossible with our current technology, so all she had to do was show some of it to Carlos and he would have no choice but to believe it
The whole scene where she first says shes a time traveler, I kept waiting for her to say "Let me show you..." and become invisible or something
Ok, this is a big spoiler but I am not going to put it in spoiler tags.
Rachel Nichols had the thingy under her eye removed!
Defiance must be utterly abysmal. This show cost like a hamburger and fries to produce and it kicks Defiances ass.
That's really good news! I couldn't concentrate on the plot seeing that fucking mole on her eye. She's an actress for crissakes. She should know better.
Same goes to Summer Glau who had hers removed later than sooner. That thing was fugly.

I guess Continuum must be doing well enough. It was renewed for a 3rd season of another 13 episodes.
Helix is a SyFy show, IIRC. It's Ron B. Moore's new series (which means there's a good chance it won't be good :|).

Nice to hear. I'm also curious what Rachel Nichols gets paid for this show and what the budget is per episode, since Showcase only gets about 400000 or so viewers per episode (which is good for them). IIRC it was up to about $2 million for a Stargate SG-1 episode in the later seasons, and $7 million for their movies.
P.S. Defiance was also renewed it seems. They have a much bigger budget than Continuum, but it appears they didn't spend as much of that on the writers as they should have.
Hey now, I rather liked her in green!
Though you're correct in that they seem to be playing down her looks. In just about anything else similarly recent she looks quite good. I have to assume they're doing it to give her that gruff cop edge.
I just thought of it as Scullifying her like in X-Files, and they were also de-emphasizing the cat suit as a plot device. Plus she hates wearing the suit because it's blistering hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter.
P.S. It amusing watching these shows and recognizing the actors that are so often recycled from other shows shot in Canada: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Universe, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Arctic Air, etc. I also just watched Snakes On A Plane and instantly knew it must have been partly shot in Canada, because so many of the actors were from these shows.
Indeed. Sci-fi production in America pretty much died with Enterprise.Canada is the new home of science fiction.

Continuum is a bit of an anomaly though, as it is funded in Canada for a Canadian channel (hence the low budget), and furthermore is set in Canada as well.
Then again, the helicopter episode must have cost them a pretty penny.
BTW, I just found out that Amanda Tapping will be directing an episode.
The other young girl in this episode is from Arctic Air.It wouldn't surprise me if Michael Shanks made an appearance.
I'd like to see Claudia Black. I think she would liven up the show.
