Hmmm... It seems they put a fair bit of investment into the Canadian advertising. I've been seeing it around the city in several places.

I've also seen it in banner ads.

BTW, since somebody asked about the scifi-ness of the show. For example, this is the main character's heads up display.

I thought Episode 2: Fast Times was decent, although Rachel Nichols comes off as a bit stiff at times, and some of the dialogue needs to be spiced up.

I do like how they resolved her identity though, to get her set up with the police. It's not a perfect plot solution, but it works nonetheless. It was also interesting how they matched the beginning of the episode with her as a 2077 cop n00b with the end of the episode with her as a 2012 cop n00b.

Also, they need to get rid of the cheezy music. In both the pilot and this episode, they ended with too-loud music a la Cold Case to try to set the mood. However, it was overbearing, and her acting along with some basic quiet background music would have been sufficient. Or maybe no music at all in some parts would have worked since her acting was strong enough to carry it IMO without the annoying Cold Case style soundtrack. Also, fewer flashbacks to the son would be preferred.

Given the fact that she was trying to get back home, I do think it was useful to have the flashback to the son, but I just don't like the writing in those character building flashback scenes very much. Either clean up the dialogue with the kid, or else cut out most of that dialogue.

Continuum - Episode 2 - ratings down 25.5% but still huge

It got 900000 viewers over 2 showings, with the 9 pm slot getting 670000 viewers. For Canada this is very high, and for Showcase extremely high as they were getting something like 300000 for their previous number 1 series.

Excellent episode this week. Tight writing, and it didn't assume the viewers are complete morons. Improvement over a couple of the last ones.

So is it worth picking up then? Or should I hold off until the entire season is over to see how it pans out?

Never heard of Sick Beard before. Now I know.
There's no better way to track your TV shows than SickBeard. Haven't watched real TV in years (though I continue to pay the monthly fee for everything on DTV).

I also don't see the sci-fi-ness in this show. I'm. It saying it looks bad, but just because she has a HUD and a radio built in to her head doesn't qualify it as sci-fi for me. Not to say that something can't happen in the future, but it just seems like a regular action show where she's the only terrorist expert.

I'm sure SyFy will pick it up in the fall, they usually pick up the big Canadian shows.

Yeah, it's light on the visible science fiction and heavy on the cop procedural part of it now, but with some future tech that is unavailable to everyone else in the world. Most of the sci-fi tends to be flashbacks at the beginning of the episodes.

But then again I like these procedurals with future tech, as Person Of Interest is one of my favourite current shows too.

I dunno. Up to you. I've been watching it religiously every week.

A couple of the early episodes had stuff in them that was hard to accept, and that was purely a writing issue, not an acting issue. This last episode was excellent however. Intelligently written, and engaging.

As for acting, almost everyone's acting is pretty good actually. Ironically, the lead is probably the weakest. Rachel Nichol's acting is not bad, but not exactly great, as she has a kind of a stilted halting delivery. But she's very nice to look at. 😉

i like this show. they're hedging their bets on whether to make master bratak a bad guy or not (to be fair, he wants people free of tyranny - not a bad thing) and making the star girly a bad guy who reforms to brataks side?

one complaint though, that thing on her eye is distracting. it's like the mole buy in austin powers. here moley moley moley moley

You still look at banner ads on websites?

I don't like the show so far.

Well, I can't say I liked episode 8 much. The sci-fi VR stuff was quite bad. They would have been better off just removing it. Too bad too, since the rest of the plot was well written. It's just that the badness of the VR stuff took so much away from the rest of the episode.

There are only two episodes left. I wonder if they'll be any good.

They finally brought together all the pieces. I didn't recognize the father so I was very surprised when it was Alec's house.
I really like the last scene. It looks like the kid may be Kagani!
And they better reveal what message Alec sent to himself from the future.

After last night only one more episode left. I assume the show was picked up for next season due to its very high ratings.

Thanks, I never heard about this show and I'm Canadian. Thank god for Torrents, they have 9 episodes already, I'm downloading the first two. Some good stuff has been filmed in Canada, Lexx, Andromeda, Fire Fly, X Files....ummm Beachcombers.

In the episode where they killed Kellog's (?) grandmother, they showed that Kagami was still in the mother's womb - according to Kagami at least.

Wow, there's only one episode left? Liking show so far. Quality isn't bad considering that it's Canadian, and I can't believe that it's based in Vancouver-Vancouver rather than a cover for an American city.
