Constructive Input: What could Bush do right now that would make you approve of him more?

Particularly but not necessarily in regards to Hurricane Katrina.

Rules:
- Don't say stupid stuff like "resign" that is completely outside the bounds of what he might realistically do.
- Don't say anything that is against his stated political convictions.

The question is, realistically, what actions could the president take to make you approve of him or respect him more than you currently do?

Example: President Bush could immediately commit military resources from Iraq to be reassigned to New Orleans.

Admitt that his post 9/11 homeland security is worthless and that he will committ more resources to american security by hastily withdrawing troops in iraq and trimming down iraq war resources.

thats a start!

Take the SAT's and get higher than a 1600 (really...and I'm a Bush supporter).

Actually admit that he personally has made mistakes in office, with specific examples.

As far as I know he has never really done so, it's always someone else's fault if he even admits that much (which I can't recall him doing offhand).

go after terrorists. where has the war on terror gone?

its all about Iraq these days. Afghanistan has not disappeared as far as I know. al-qaeda and other muslim fanatics are still there. they need to be bombed. Pakistan is not going to bomb them, instead, Pakistan will arm them. so lets face reality, Pakistan is not our friend.

if Bush would come out and say Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and many other countries are not our friends but part of the war on terror, my respect for him would go up greatly. his foreign policy stinks at the moment.

we have removed Iran's enemies to the east and west. they are our true enemies. we need to arm the students and the people of Iran who love us, we need to help them overthrow the mullahs. invading Iran is not a good strategy.

oh and lets start to take homeland security a bit more seriously. if you're going to profile someone at the airport, please dont profile an 80 year old grandmother.

remember that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and others are the reason why 9/11 happened, and right after 9/11, Bush called them our allies. it would be funny :D if it wasn't so stupid :disgust:

Iraq war -- mixed. i was against it, but i support us being there as of right now. we need to stay until these Iraqi forces can secure the country themselves. which they cannot right now since they run and hide from the enemy

he failed the Katrina hurricane. as for John Roberts, hmmm.

1. Bush could bring all of the troops home from Iraq and station them on the Southern border.
2. Bush could push for legislation that would make hiring illegal aliens punishable by a $10,000 - $100,000 per instance and quantity of offenses. (Hire 1 illegal, get fined $10,000. Hire 10 illegals and get fined $20,000 per. etc...)
3. Bush could push China to actually float their currency.
4. Bush could transfer 50% to 75% of the military budget to alternative energy research and scholarships/grants for students majoring in math and science.
5. Bush could push for construction of wind farms and nuclear power plants.
6. Bush could stop supporting religion in schools and government, starting by withdrawing his endorsement of "Intelligent" Design in school.

Why does he have to apologize to all Muslims?!?! What did he do to Muslims in general?! Where the heck are you getting this

As for leaving Iraq, that is the WORST thing that can be done. Security is horrible now, imagine if all the troops left! True I don't consider the troops being used in an effective manner...but the situation will not get better if they leave.

If you consider pre-American Iraq to be an "ally" of Iran...you are greatly mistaken

He took the SATs a long time ago, and he got a respectable grade.

I don't see this thread turning into more than a "Bush could just implement all of the policies I would implement if I were president".

Secure the borders, even if it means pulling troops from Iraq. No tolerance for illegals.
Repeal socialist Medicare prescription drug act.
Fulfill his promise and nominate a judge in the mold of a Scalia and Thomas for his 2nd (and all remaining) vacancies.

1. Develop and implement REAL "homeland security". Not creating new positions, not highly visable but ultimately meaningless security theater, not tough talk, not pointless laws that take away our freedom, security that makes us safer without taking away what makes us great.

2. Develop and commit to some sort of exit strategy for Iraq. Broad platitudes are not going to help.

I agree with the 2nd part of #1, somewhat agree with #2, strongly agree with #3 and #5.

1. Remove all troops from Iraq
2. Eliminate Department of Homeland Security
3. Fess up and send himself, Cheney, Asscroft, Condi, & others to PMITA-ville
4. Eliminate social security. I'm never going to see anything from it, why do I have to get a paycheck deduction?
5. Stop giving every gov't contract to his cronies at stupid amounts of taxpayer dollars.
6. Fix the scam that is our corrupt healthcare industry.

That would be a start.

Get rid of illegals, starting with south of the border.
Give Chinese government the bird.
Admit some of his mistakes instead of making someone else resign.

1) Fire ALL of his political appointees with little or no job experience that are running federal agencies, not just Michael Brown
2) Dump Rove, and make decisions that are good for the country, and don't just "play to his base"
3) Propose a meaningful exit strategy for Iraq that does not involve trying to train 100,000 Iraqi troops (which at current rates will take us 30 years)
4) Someone else said it first - but I'll repeat it: admit that he has personally made mistakes while in office, and give details.

n/m. Oh, I like what arsbanned said below. Doesn't take away what he's done, but it would be nice to see. Would be a cold day in hell before he did any of that though.

Get Bin Laden. Turn the resources currently being used in Iraq back to Afghanistan until the job is done.
Realize that he cannot continue offering tax cuts.
Put an even handed moderate judge (after all, that us what a judge is supposed to be) up for the SC vacancy.
Stop making Haliburton wealthy.
Start funding FEMA again.
Stop undoing years of work on the environment.
Stop mutilating the English language.
Fire Rumsfeld.
Stop trying to turn the country into some religious cult.
