I don't like brand loyalty. It's a sham companies try to force on people for sales. Going back as far as I can remember . . .
Atari - don't remember which one, but it was given to me with a bunch of games and later broke.
NES - When it was $100. Played it at a friends house. Loved it.
SNES - When it was $100. I went against my friend on this one; he had a Genesis. I don't remember why. Maybe it was because I loved Mario and thought it was a better console because of it.
Genesis 2nd Gen - Got it because I saved my apartment building from a lot of water damage. I think it was $130 bucks at the time. I asked for it.
GameGear - it was either before or after the Genesis. Got it because it was protable and had COLOR. Because of that I thought it was better, but I figured out why people bought the Gameboy so much - you could play it in the light.
Sega CD 2nd Gen - I think one of my friends had it first and then I joined him. Some games were cool.
N64 - PSX was too expensive for my parents. Then when I heard about the N64 and its graphics looked so amazing that I had to get it. Because there was a shortage, my mom got it for me at a special price of $260, $60 over retail.
PSX - I think I enjoyed the PSX a lot more than the N64. But there are some memorable games on it of course. I think I got this around 1998, before FF8 came out.
Gameboy Color - Release date (I think).
Gameboy Advance - Release date.
Dreamcast - Around 2001. I was disappointed with what I heard and read about the PS2. I bought a Dreamcast and it was amazing.
3DO - Borrowed from my friend to try it out. It's sort of like Sega CD. He's never wanted it back. I keep it in my closet.
XBOX - Dreamcast became unsupported, so because I didn't want the PS2, I bought an XBOX 3 days after it debuted. It broke down on my about a year and a half later. Couldn't read any discs.
Gamecube - Bought the gamecube for the Resident evil remake. I played some good games on this system, but ditched it when I decided to go PC only.
PC - I started gaming on PCs in October of 2000. Eventually shifted completely to PC Gaming after the crap I delt with on the XBOX. Frustrated with the lack of FPS and the cost of hardware, I played my last PC Gam in early 2008, Bioshock.
DS - Sometimes in between the PC Gaming, the DS released and I bought it to try and fill my time in between FPSs on the PC. I didn't like the DS, I thought the touch screen was a gimmick and there were no games that appealed to me. I sold it.
PS2 - I think I bought it to fill my time in between FPSs on the PC, but I ignored it for the PC. For some reason, online gaming was easier, or more fun.
DS lite - Later on, there was a game that I was itching to play. I ended up being dissatisfied again with the DS lite afterwards and sold it.
XBOX 360 - Deciding to stopped PC gaming, I bought an XBOX 360 and focus on it. I had fun, and then it broke with the RROD. After it broke, I realized that I had spent about $540 on games and only enjoyed $180 worth. I sold it because of shoddy hardware and I was also looking for a cheaper way to game.
PSP - Cheaper gaming. Games were $20 cheaper and it was the only alternative since the DS sucked.
PSP 2000 - Unsatisfied with the original PSP, I bought this one when I was released. I realized later that I had many books I wanted to read, but would rather play the PSP than read, so I discovered the ultimate cheap gaming, Gamefly, and decided to sell the PSP for a real gaming console.
PS3 - The only alternative for me. I don't like the games on Nintendo consoles. I don't like the XBOX 360 because it breaks often. I don't like Sony, but I don't have any other choice; not only that, but it has a Blu-Ray drive, which is a plus since I enjoy watching HD movies.
