Most states have provisions for people without certification to teach in their major area on an emergency or provisional certificate if there is a shortage of people certified in that particular area. Usually you are required to sign an agreement stating that you will return to school and take a certain number of hours of education courses toward teaching certification each year with a requirement that you complete the certification within a certain amount of time. This is necessary to renew your contract each year. I don't know Florida's requirements specifically, but they should be on the Florida State Department of Education website.
I have been teaching for 26 years now and would be glad to answer any questions about the teaching profession in general as best as I can.
