The rollback of everything 0bama looks to be going pretty smoothly. The progressives are up in arms and some (right here in this thread, too) are making suggestions of murder and mayhem. Pitchforks in the head. Oh my!
Our fear centers are going to make us terminate your fear centers and you are the ones that made us do it! My amygdala is far superior to your amygdala and I've got a pitchfork right here to prove it! LOL!

7 words blacklisted from CDC budget documents: Report

"In the case of “science-based” or “evidence-based,” the analyst said an alternative phrase suggested for use was: “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes." Some of the other words did not get replacements."

Trump bans CDC from using words like 'transgender,' 'diversity,' and 'entitlement'

The CDC can't use new-speak anymore. Awesome! This can only help them get back to what their core mission is. Hint: It's not social justice.

Boomerang just said that the elimination of words was a rollback of newspeak. If anyone here has actually read 1984 they would know that the elimination of words was the principal driving purpose of newspeak in order to limit the range of acceptable expression, just as in the topic of this thread.

You can’t make this shit up. Conservatives are so dumb and so twisted by their own bullshit that they have twisted 1984 to mean the opposite of what it did.

Apparently "newspeak" to you means making decisions based on facts. If the state says 2+2 is 5, it is 5! And it's hilariously ironic that someone who's supposedly for freedom would celebrate censorship so enthusiastically.

Also, news flash: transgender people (or, for that matter, people who aren't white males) don't cease to exist because you censor discussion of them.

Homer Trump scores again. Science and free speech loses...

The first five are bad enough, but I'm well and truly hacked off with the last two. What the HELL is the CDC and HHS doing except Science and Evidence based work? The Trumpian alternative is:

“CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes."

Which is no alternative at all--it makes Science subservient to the murky (and defined as the politicians want) "community standards and wishes". Whatever they are, they are not science.

This tweet pretty much answers that question:

https://twitter.com/jessphoenix2018/status/941843808035028993

Here we go: "Vulnerable populations with high degrees of diversity such as transgender persons will suffer due to the Trump administration's retrograde views on diversity, entitlement, & science-based, evidence-based policies in favor of fetus rights."

From the article:

The Trump administration has reportedly banned the Centers for Disease Control from using the phrases “evidence-based” and “science-based” on official documents.

Analysts are reportedly prohibited from using the phrases on official documents they prepare for the 2019 budget, which is expected to be released in February.
The bible says to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good....so much for faith in this administration or science for that matter. I wonder what new revelations in BS this clown car will produce?

@boomerang

Please tell us what you think that the Center of Disease Control and Prevention should be basing its policies and recommendations on, if not science?
Show me where they're not going to be based in science. They have been instructed not to use certain words in the documents for their budget and you get all emotional and blow it all out of proportion. No fucking surprise there but really?

Don't misunderstand, I love this shit. A whole segment of the population that can't read and comprehend what they're reading getting all emotional and then threatening violence based in their own ignorance is entertainment that is pretty much priceless. I do wonder why I bother to respond to people that think like twelve year olds 24/7 because I'm not all that fond of kids.

A science agency isn't supposed to mention science in their budget requests requests because it makes the dumbasses you support uncomfortable.

Why ban "evidence-based" and "science-based," then? These are not supposed to be controversial phrases, but apparently they are for the Trump administration.

This is why conservatism has to be eradicated for America to survive.

Sad, but true. There was a day I'd argue this, but not now.

"I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it." - John Stuart Mill, 1866

I remember quoting that here in the Cheney days and it really setting some partisans off. Funny how the last 20 years have, unsurprisingly, done absolutely nothing to invalidate it.

Pretty much what I intended to respond with. Please @boomerang , try to think this one through to a logical conclusion that squares up with the available evidence rather than trying to come up yet another "libruls be butthurt!" retort.

Sadly it’s nots just Fox News.

So our friend Boomerang gets a reinforced diet of bullshit that supports his views, unlike us on the “Godless Alt-Left” who listen to the “lamestream Media”.

Of course you're not fond of kids. You have Stockholm Syndrome and have become one who murders them. But you have shown your hand as a conservative monster and the kids will be coming for you. They are going to awaken your memory of what was done. Then we will see what happens to smug. Monsters have a bad habit of spawning cannibal children. Every pendulum swings and the grist in the mill changes with the seasons. What's coming you will see in the mirror. Look closely and you will see: Don't misunderstand, I love this shit. A whole segment of the population that can't read and comprehend what they're reading getting all emotional and then threatening violence based in their own ignorance is what you are and therefore create in others. All hate is for the self with the self the intended victim. You think it's what you fear in others, but it is what you desire. And you shall have it. It's the law of Karma, the wrath of God, and nobody is exempted who hates himself. It is the knife in your own hand that will put a new grin on your neck. Sorry, but that's just how it is.

What a sense of entitlement these jackasses have. If anything needs to be science-based and non-partisan it's public health. I mean, if there were a public health crisis, would you not want people using evidence-based approaches to intervene? Given the lack of diversity in their banned word list, it's clear they are intentionally trying to discriminate against transgender people, abortion, etc. This kind of behavior signals strength but in reality only makes them more vulnerable. Somewhere deep inside whatever sense of integrity they might possess is curled up like a fetus.

So what's the point of the word censorship in the first place? What's the goal?

Who ordered these terms to be removed, and who appointed and confirmed those people? Conservatives and Republicans.

The proper response from scientists and researchers at the CDC responsible for the budget should be "haha, fuck off." These are highly educated and specialized people doing vital work. You can't just replace them, at least not effectively.
