Conservatives attacking Paul Ryan for being Muslim due to his beard

I guess this is as close as it gets?

Sounds like some haters trying to slander beards.

Yep, apparently to some crazies, saying he has a "muslim beard" is the same as attacking him for being a muslim. It's obvious nobody actually believes he's a muslim, so "attacking" him for it is nonsense.

Conservatives are NOT attacking Paul Ryan for being Muslim due to his beard. OP is a moron.

They are saying that Paul Ryan has grown a 'Muslim beard', and are attacking him for it. This is because many conservatives view calling someone a Muslim a pejorative term, which is in and of itself hilarious and shitty. Paul Ryan himself then told Obama that he was being attacked as a Muslim, at which time they both apparently shared a laugh at how insane some conservatives are. This is all clearly spelled out in the article.

Are you trying some pathetic attempt at pedantry where you say 'Conservatives aren't attacking Paul Ryan for being a Muslim, they are attacking Paul Ryan for looking like a Muslim'?

If so, who is the real moron here?

Let's get real here...just who are they? All I can find is a couple random people of zero significance making a couple comments about his beard on Twitter. If this is the "they" you're referring to, then all this is incredibly trite minutia that doesn't extrapolate beyond incredibly trite minutia...unless of course one happens to be a pea-brained partisan idiot that figures they can use this kind of trivial bullshit to broadly demonize conservatives.

The conservative backlash is all about the budget and has nothing to do with his beard ffs. /facepalm

All you need are a few morons on twitter to say something dumb and it is ascribed to some vast movement. I doubt a significant number of conservatives care about Paul Ryan's facial hair let alone care enough to use a religion as a pejorative against him. Another way to deflect from their actual issues.

I think it is funny how Obama and Paul shared a laugh over it, that is about all it is worth.

So now at least you appear to be admitting that the OP was accurate. Unfortunately, you've now gone from outraged denial of the story to outraged victimhood, which is at best a marginal improvement.

As to how significant it is, who cares? It's funny when bigoted and shitty people act this insane. Get a sense of humor, guy.

I'm not admitting the OP was accurate....have you been drinking too much during lunch again?

I apologize for thinking that you had put some thought into this and had figured out you were wrong. Thanks for slandering my character again though, by the way. I'm sure you'll soon be declaring me a liar for pointing out these things to you, as that's kind of your go-to when you feel threatened.

We actually don't know whether or not the 3 tweets I found came from conservatives or a couple liberals with a "sense of humor". So for me to "admit" the OP was accurate in any way is quite difficult....unless of course I were perhaps drunk or otherwise mentally impaired. :sneaky: And if these guys turned out to be a couple liberals or conservatives joking around...or God forbid...a couple dumbass conservatives actually being serious...what of it? It means NOTHING in the scheme of things and is certainly not license or justification to broadly smear conservatives in general. Surely you understand this.

the 3 tweets I found

apparently you didn't actually look beyond the article in the OP. here is a search over the first 10 days of this month, before any articles were written about the subject and it is quite clear which side of the aisle the vast majority of these people are on.

https://twitter.com/search?q=paul r...:2015-12-01 until:2015-12-10&src=typd&lang=en

there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of easily searchable instances of this lunacy.

Well dammit...I'm convinced! Not sure of what...but hey, I'm really, really convinced!

Again, the notion is so absurd that it should be plain to anyone that it's a joke. Obviously the president got the joke.

Uh, the notion that Obama himself is a secret Muslim born in Kenya is also patently "absurd" yet it is a well known fact that many people on the right believe such things.

Are you seriously arguing that conservatives really think Ryan is a muslim now and are therefore "attacking him for being muslim"? I thought you were just yanking my chain, but if you actually think that it might be time for meds. :eek

People are upset about the spending deal, which is stated numerous times in the article, as well as by the radio talking heads etc. There is NOTHING in the article that says anything about anyone "attacking him for being muslim". That's plain absurd.

Yeah, the article mostly talks about conservatives being upset over the spending deal, and it is interesting that Indus picked up on this one aspect and made it his focus. However, it is right there in the article and there is no indication that Ryan was making a joke.

This video starting around 1:05 quotes several social media posts directly:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jckUQU86KA0

I have no idea how many conservatives believe this, but it's pretty clear Ryan wasn't joking when he said that some conservatives do. Then again, they are pissed about the spending deal so many are likely using "Muslim" as a generic slur - since it has become that on right - but may not actually believe it.

You've become unhinged from reality apparently.

To be fair, some of those thousands are clearly jokes. But many are from obvious right wing loonies. DSV is either incompetent at searching, or a liar. I'm leaning toward the latter. His schtick is to simply disagree with everyone who uses facts for their arguments - rarely provides any facts to shore up his point of view (generally, there aren't any.)

Exactly how am I a potential liar? You're saying that I may have actually found more than 3 but lied about it? Wow....that's really fucked up.

ES extrapolates tiny data sets into grand conclusions consistently. But only when it helps his side.

He will go on and on about statistical significance for things he's arguing FOR then ignore it when it goes against him. What we know is that people are making comments about his beard, that's about it. The sample size isn't very large but he has no problem extrapolating to a larger group.

Ah, I forgot about THE LIST.

Time to abandon this mess.

so i just did a search on Twitter for Paul Ryan muslim beard and there are literally pages of posts that occurred before this article was published.

so what was that about "no mention anywhere" again?

then again, with your completely absurd conclusion that this was just a joke, i really don't expect you to be able to absorb reality.

ftr, no presidential candidate said that thousands of people were screaming Paul Ryan has a muslim beard from the rooftops.

Not that the world isn't chocked full of raging morons, but wouldn't it be more probable that they're just using an insensitive term for his look? Like if they said he has an afro doesn't mean they're calling him an african. I imagine there are lots of people calling it a hipster beard too, tho the newness of the 'muslim beard' term will no doubt help it take over social sheepia.

No...get with the program..."conservatives" clearly think he's growing a "Muslim beard"! This helps us to reaffirm our deeply ingrained bigotry and fundamental belief that most, if not all, conservatives are complete morons. Mental depravity comes in all sizes.

You don't understand anything about statistics as you have so amply demonstrated in the past, so you're in no position to talk. I still remember when you raged about how Nate Silver was a 'bean counter' when it turned out you said something incredibly stupid about statistics previously. (funny that the 'bean counter' was so right when you were so wrong though, lol)

Nowhere did I say that this was extrapolated out to all conservatives or even most conservatives. DSF's victimhood complex kicked in and so he might have thought so, but that's his problem, not mine.

It really does. Someone sees a silly story about people raging about a 'Muslim beard' and then immediately starts calling people laughing at it names before painting himself and conservatives as victims.

Some people are just sick I guess, huh.

He's pretty stupid too, if he couldn't comprehend my post. You claimed you found only 3 cases on Twitter. If that's all you found, then you absolutely suck at searching, else you're lying about searching. I'm still not sure which it is - incompetence or lying, but I am pretty sure about the stupid part.

Edit: in fact, I'm willing to even nominate myself for ownage of the year. Here's all you have to do: post step by step directions to what you did to search Twitter comments that resulted in only 3 matches. That should be simple, since you made the claim, "We actually don't know whether or not the 3 tweets I found came from conservatives or a couple liberals with a 'sense of humor'." So, show us how YOU found only 3 tweets. Failure to do so, of course, implies you're lying, so at least that'll be settled.
