I trust you didn't just use one of those quick 15-minute-for-$5 places, (or worse yet 2 for one deals) as I hear they tend to overlook some serious and fundamental defects while giving one the security of thinking everything is fixed and OK.

What are the offers thus far? I think this really is a Hot Deal. I raise my bid to $2.60 just in case competition gets wind of this limited offer.

I would add, I think, that there is only one way to get it repaired permanently, else it's not really repairing the right sort of stuff or using some strange methods to not repair it at all but damage some other part. But tell me, if it's slightly used, then if I store it in a cool and dry place, will it retain its present quality? Or is it this fragile creature requiring excessive care?

At first, I fear and tremble before the almighty mods. Then I realize I am unjustified in doing so since others do much worse, so surely I will not be punished. And I feel happy since I nef all I want without fear of punishment. Then I realize that neffing too is meaningless and that is provides no comfort and so I'm stuck again at the same sort of spot, looking for something, and knowing that neffing in some way is involved in the solution.

Trust me, you're better off with the original warranty from the source. The company has so much cash reserves it will undoubtedly be in business in perpetuity. Amex, on the other hand, can ex ex ex extricate itself from obligations.
